so the the rc51 failed inspection today because the front signals were not DOT approved. Does anyone know if the front signals from a 98 f3 will fit? they all look the same but im not sure if where they mount to the fairing is the same.
If they dont, does anyone have a set of front OEM signals i could borrow for inspection? thanks

zip ties are your best friend right now. what place did you take it to?
alright f3 signals it is. I took it to bettencourts this morning after i got done at the registry cause it was kinda close and i was going there anyway. They failed me for fork seals, no licence plate light and the stupid signals.
I wouldnt have had them do the work if i was staying here longer, but since im going back to ny i said fuck it and had them do the seals. i just gotta go back there with some signals and bolt lights for the licence plate.

na i cant wait that long, im leaving for rochester this saturday. Where did you get those plate bolt lights? i imagine they are pretty cheap at autozone
Tuono
ya the guy shamelessly plugged their parts store today when he informed me my bike was missing shit.
Tuono
Is MA like NH in that if you car/bike fails
it will show up if you try and have it
inspected at another station?
autozone led license plate bolts run about $6 I think.
ya when i failed, i got a slip saying rejected and everything it failed for was written on it.
autozone is a negative on the bolts. ill just buy them at bettencourts when i go back tomorrow to put the turn signals on. it better not be fuggin cold tomorrow
Tuono
thanks for the heads up ill check there tonight. Do you guys think they will let me work on my bike in their lot? is it going to be some kind of retarded liability thing where ill have to get it off their property to work on it? i really dont want to load it in the truck and then bring it back.
Tuono
ya i sure as hell wasnt coming all the way back to stoughton. i just didnt want to load it up again
Tuono
I have a set of OE RC front signals if you want 'em for the inspection.
I have no plate light, cant even really see it, my rear directionals are only a couple inches apart and last year i needed fork seals too.
I go to an old school chopper guy in Pepperell. he'll pass anything.

well today was like hell on earth, but for the most part concentrated in the bed of my pickup. i went down there at 9am this morning, they said no to working on it there so i loaded it in my truck and went across the street. zip tied up the f3 signals no problem but the plate lights were a different story.
one wire on one of the lights broke, so now im down to one wire. I forgot my test light so im guessing which wires on the brake lights were const. 12v and which was ground and which was switched 12v. well common sense would tell me black is ground but nooooooooooooooooo, thats 12v constant. fuck you honda. after an hour of cussing i ended up driving it back to my house and finished it there with the most jalopied wiring job ive ever done. regardless the guy said it would pass, just waiting on the fork seals to come tomorrow. got a few assholes on bikes that honked and waved at me while i was wrenching in the parking lot today. i hope it was one of you assholes.
Tuono
well no sticker yet, but he said the lights were fine and it will get a sticker once the fork seals are in.
weman you still comin by today?
Tuono
yup i will swing over on the way home from the office i will give ya a ring
cooool

well by fail i mean rejected. i didnt know there was a difference? i paid 15 bucks for the inspection even though its rejected. I can get it re inspected anywhere for free if i bring the little tag they gave me. Since im on a tight schedual and will be going back out of state saturday, i just let them do the fork seals. Cheap they are not, almost double the quote i got from Pete at GMD but time wouldnt allow me to get it out to him. They let me take my bike since they didnt have the seals yet so i could get it home to fix all the lights and stuff.
Even though i had some bad luck, every single member of the staff i interacted with was very helpful and really courteous. They slipped me in their schedual so that i could have my bike fixed and inspected before saturday. They are one of the best "customer service friendly" dealers ive been too. But i probably wont get it inspected there again since i know they are sticklers.
