I get chemicals for my factory at Walmart
Then I remebered maybe the Gixer deserves an oil change
Turn around in the oil aisle and there are
Fram filters for motorcycles...
On the shelf with the MC fram filters are
4 qts of Mobil 1 mt 10-40 oil at $7.68 a quart
Full synthetic motorcycle oil
So visit your walmart so this is a successful market test and they keep it in stock.
Also scored a digital tire gauge the size and shape of a supository so I will be able to answer that eternal internal question![]()
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
Unfortunately they only have spin-on type oil filters.

Have Wal Mart fix your bike when something goes wrong.
Does Wal Mart do warranty work on Yamahas?![]()
When the dealers are gone, then what do you do?
The techs have to go to school, get updated, get paid.
Salaries for an entire shop, health insurance, business insurance, taxes, electricity, water, heat, on and on and on.
And guess what - when I visit my shops I never see an M3 or CLK parked out in the employee lot. Usually, lots of older vehicles.
NO ONE at any shop I visit is getting rich. If they are, they hide it well.

Wal mart, while it sucks is better than a lot of dealerships, and how they treat there customers. There employees can quit, but they feel I need them. Fuck that attitude. Many a local dealer I have dealed with has been like this.
None of my local dealers can get an even remotely reasonable price on Motul E-tech 100. That is why I order it from Ron Ayers.
What exactly is a reasonable price on Motul ETech? What they have to charge to make a reasonable profit on it to help keep the doors open, or what you are prepared to pay?
Two very different things.
I sell Motul and ETech so know what a dealer pays for it. Should he be allowed to make 30% margin on it?
What is a reasonable margin that you would accept for your local dealer to make?
He has to buy it in quantity, pay for it up front and then stock it and hope it doesn't die on his shelf.
And if the techs don't know anything, you should buy the bike in the crate and set it up yourself. Of course, you'll be buying this bike from Wal Mart since all the dealers will be gone.
I visited 8 shops on Friday doing Michelin missionary work. Everyone was there because they loved bikes, not because they were screwing the customer and getting filthy rich.

when i worked at a ri cycle shop the bastard charged 4.75 a quart for castrol that he bought at a local auto parts store by the case @ 1.39. customers assumed that oil change would be with motorcycle oil that he sold for 4.75 at the parts counter.....ha, suckers or are they? i won't say which shop it was, "D's" lips are sealed. show me the empty containers and yes i want the half empty one also!
pisses me off, half way to fraudsville........![]()
There are bad people in each and every profession. Bikes should not be any different.
Has anyone had a really great experience buying a car? Or getting it dealer serviced?
The worst now IMO is all these chopper guys charging 80K for what is essentially a catalog bike. This to me is robbery. Those guys should be wearing a ski mask when the hand over the bill.
I have shops in my area that I refuse to deal with because the people there are major league dicks.
I also have shops in my area that I have dropped what I was doing in the office to deliver them a set of tires - and they were over an hour away.
On the NTSR Vermont Triumph ride a month ago, one of the guys had a bad tire and we needed it replaced ASAP. Dame Powersports in upstate NY had a tire, dropped what they were doing, wheeled the bike and and swapped it out. At 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Did they have to do this? Not really. But they did.
To paint each and every dealer with such a broad negative brush does a disservice to them all.

While agreed there are some good shops outthere, and maybe I have just been unlucky with some I have dealt with, the multiline dealer in Windham who told me "What do I look like a Yamaha dealer" When I asked if the filter for my wifes FZR was the same as my F4"s like they dont have a cross reference book. thats with 8 quarts of there $7 oil and the filter for the F4 asked for, some gloves and my wifes new helmet on the counter in the middle of being rang up. I turned around and said forget it. Walked out, spent a extra hundred bucks on all of it a half hour up the street cause he wanted the business and looked it up in the book. And FYI they are the same filter...
where the heck are all the good shops? heck i'll learn to do the work myself. i like bikes too. hey look Walmart carries mobil-1 oil. oh and it's cheap too. nice!![]()
"fuckit!"
Good shops? Umm offhand, seacoast sport cycle in Windham, Concord motorcycle in Concord NH Fredom cycle in Concord NH as well. There maybe others I dont know...
If I could find a dealer in my area that could sell it for under $7.50/quart I would certainly consider it. The dealers I visited ranged from upper $8 to $11 and change. The low price came from a dealer that I won't give a dime to because of their poor customer service but I still go in because they have a good selection of bikes to look at.Originally posted by Karaya One

30% margin on items is steep in my book but if the place had outstanding customer service it would be much easier to swallow.
Do you have a list of dealers in the North Shore area of MA who stock ETech? Or better yet, what would a case of it set me back directly from you?
I'm all about supporting the local guy but not when it involves a financial raping!
30% isnt that steep on most items in my experience in retail, but we all get your point.Originally posted by ZX-12R

Raping with good service is a diffrent ball game. If it keeps that shop in business. Also it depends on if the prices keep rising while there business gets more support, but the shit head up the street keeps his price low. Ill pay for service and sales. But not to much moreOriginally posted by ZX-12R

The only way I'm paying $7.68 a quart for oil is if it is being massaged into me by a hot Filipino girl named Ping-Ping.![]()
I agree, but it has to be very good service. I'm not quite at that point in my life where I can throw money around indescriminately.Originally posted by cbrf41999

Nor am I, but I found when loyal to a dealer they seem to pay a little more attention, and you start getting a discount on everything, like 5-10%Originally posted by ZX-12R

Autozone $2.69 for Castrol Syntec
Screw this full synth for 8 bucks a quart shit.
Oil gets dropped every 2500 miles anyway, and there really isn't much viscosity loss during those miles to worry about it.
As for Fram motorcycle filters....
I'll never run one in my bike, or put one on anyone elses...
wow! anyone else change oil at every 2500? it's been 5000miles in the zx10 since last oil change.
i got 10% discount on oil filter at 3A motor and it still comes out to about the same at South Shore motor without discount and they even have part in stock. damn!
