Most garages I've been to in the city don't charge bikes. Park at the Haymarket Garage (with the bicycles) and then take the T...
bike or car?
thanks guys, my gf just started school there so I'm going to be taking frequent visits.
Maybe her roommate will let you park your "bike" in her "garage"![]()
We used to park on the sidewalk along the wall of the Ruggles train station. But then there got to be too many bikes and the police started to ticket us.
Aside from over by fenway, there's another spot that I used fairly often. At the end of Saint Stephen St, there's a little road called Opera Pl that usually has a couple spots available for bikes. Puts you right on Huntington in the middle of things too.
I graduated from there in 1991, admittedly a long time ago. Back then there were a couple of areas that the police "allowed" bikes to park.
I'm sure the whole scene has changed, but go down one day and scout it out, my guess is that you'll find someplace near campus that looks safe enough, where other bikes are parking without incident. I'd stay on the campus side of the train tracks the other side get dicey real fast.
As for other precautions, I'd bring a disk lock, NU isn't in Boston's best neighborhood.
What school at NU is she going to?
Best,
John
thanks for the response everyone, her dorm is right is right on the opposite side of the fenz on fenway. I parked next to another bike with a cover just before all the parallel parking spots for residents started. No ticket, no vandalism. Hopefully it will always be like that.
is she a freshman? I was living at west A when I still had my bike and parked at ruggles.. but they started ticketing everyone there. you can try the fens but keep it locked, NU's parking garages are not bike friendly, they have a bike area in columbus garage but i'm fairly sure they lock that place up at night, I'm not sure what parking is like for bikes at renaissance garage.
Parking
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
