Oil Changes and Winter Storage

I've heard of people topping the oil up (like til it comes out of the fill port) to soak the clutch plates. I bought a bike that was stored since '07 and this was the case. I couldn't believe how much oil was in there.

interesting. i bet my hawk's clutch wouldn't have been gone if the PO had done that to mine. Plates were basically new spec but slipped like crazy.

I've found that a misadjusted clutch lever/cable will sag out your clutch springs. Coulda been the issue...

Red? I know the 300V is green...

7100 (full) is red. 5100 (semi) is brown.

yea hard to know now. I don't remember the cable being adjusted too far when i got it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't when it was put away.

good idea though.
