I changed my oil today and didn't realize that there was a crack in the side of my drain pan until I came back out of the house and saw the spill on the driveway. My rear tire was sitting in the middle of the puddle for 5 or 10 minutes until I got the spill covered up with dirt and cat litter. What is the best way to get the oil and residue off the tire???? All suggestions are greatly appreciated and all insults are richly deserved. Thanks in advance.
soap (like Dawn dishwashing detergent) and water

Wipe it off with a rag, some speedy dry will certainly help, but just go ride it. Take her easy for a bit and you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks guys for the reponses. Wiped it down with a de-greaser, rinsed with water and took it for a nice 50 mile run tonight. Felt great by the end of it. Really appreciate the help Randy and Chipper!!
I was always told that even though it is rubber, your tire will absorb it, you'll never get the oil out, holding the front brake on and burning the tire won't get rid of it, oil rots rubber, junk the tire and buy a new one.
First time I've heard people say clean it off. We ride through it on the street I imagine, but the contact time is a fraction of a second, and it's immediately cleaned off...vs soaking for 5-10 minutes. I'd trust a plug in a tire more than a tire sitting in oil for upwards of 10 minutes. But that's just me.
Rubber does absorb oil, and oil will ruin rubber, but 10 minutes wouldn't concern me at all personally. He'll need a new tire due to mileage before this one rots.

Simple green!
a friend's bike had an oil leak at the track last week and got some on the rear tire. Dunlop tech said to clean it off and ride. I think he said brake cleaner but I'm not positive. He's on the AMA fitting crew so I trust him.
