I have heard this also. but I have 2 problems with it. 1)I'm way too cheap to go out and buy a good bicycle and 2) I'm way too lazy.

work has always kept me in shape. I've always heard people say that if your legs don't hurt after a day on the track you aren't trying hard enough. I've never had any pain after a day on the track. street riding my neck will get a little sore and my butt will start to hurt thanks to having that wooden board Honda calls a seat.

Lower back and abdomen are key..I have my road bike on a trainer and spin 2-3 days for an hour to net athlon software and lift 3 days a week with a bowflex...running a mile once in while but I usually end up in a coughing attack....I too have asthma and exersizing helps expand the lungs along with the million meds and inhalers...booooo!

I have an old, square foot rest I use. I pick it up by the ankles and do a bunch of lifts with it. Works all the leg muscles you'll need in order to hang on to the tank. Reps till it burns.............then go 5 more and move on to your core muscles.

    Stamina over strength, IMO.

I've been playing hockey once or twice a week since my broken foot healed in December.

I had no pain from riding this year at all...
