It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Looks like a lot of fun, but I see 5 bikes...which one's new?
I just got the KX250, and me and Nazo studded that and his WR250, some friends on on CRF50's, CRF450's, and TTRs.

Does this mean we'll be racing each other at the Banquet![]()
Boston --> San Diego
nice, is that kb's old WR?
Yup, Nazo bought it about a month ago and we studded the tires saturday night when we picked up and studded my KX. KB is in the pictures on his CRF450. Also pictured is Chris (Teach) and Shawn McNeil dicing it up on the 50's.Originally posted by bump909

I'm thinking about it, but I'm not so good on the ice as I am on dry pavement.Originally posted by a13x

Maybe we'll just bring them and see whats up when we get there.
...It really is so much fun though throwing the rear end around and sliding through the turns.

How serious are the ice races at the banquette? Is it just jumping on and having a good time or are people out to hardcore compete. I don't want to catch a studded tire to the face because it's only my second time on a lake ever, and my second time on a dirtbike in 13 years.

Did you stud the outside of the rear tire too? I'm assuming that pic was before you finished?
Yup, that was at the first redbull break. We spent about 4 plus hours, and close to 2000 screws studding the bikes saturday night so we could tear up the ice sunday morning.Originally posted by benVFR

We did not hand screw 2000 screws. We used drills. The 50's look ok, but the big bikes were a blast. You should have a current OHRV reg. I forgot to get mine when I picked up the bike, so i have to do that next time I'm up there. i didn't get caught this time.

Where is said banquet and when is it?
Lopycam what's up brotha??? I actually got a set of used ice racing take offs that allegedly Pascal Picotte raced on that some canadian dude makes them for like 800 to 1000 clams a set. My tires only go left. For some info on the tires check out http://rockcentralcycle.supersites.ca/icetires/
Those are pretty close to what I am running. They are actually shaved so the tire is actually flat when it's leaned left. Crazy crazy traction. I didn't pay 800 that's for sure. I got em for 300 and paid Pigeon 40 to mount them. Then I had to install a Klucky Pucks chain guide to keep the chain outa the studs and that was 25 bucks. Then a heavy duty rear tube 15 bucks and a heavy duty 24" moutain bike front for 12.99. I had to add a link to the chain to keep the studs from hitting the swing arm, 2 masterlinks 12 more bucks. Finally 1 30 rack of Bud 20 bucks. In the end...............PRICELESS!!!
I also wired up some hand warmers and my Snowmobile helmet with the heated shield. I'd wire up the Gerbings but I think it will draw too much amperage. Bad enough to run the hand warmers and the helmet I had to unplug the headlight.
Fun time!!!!!

So who's got a bike for me to race that weekend?
I think they also had a non-studded open quad class. That might be my ticket. Can someone check on that?
Nazo,
I also have a YZ-Style gas tank that will fit the WR if you get a YZ seat. Not sure if you're interested in doing that conversion but I will give you the tank for like, say....the cost of the lodging and some beers at the banquet. It was a $200 tank from Clarke. New, never mounted in the box in my basement somewhere. Remember how I told you Iused to race off-road? I bought this tank for shorter hare scramble events that didnt require 3.5 gallons of fuel and I sold the bike before I ever got to mounting it up. Let me know if you're interested.

Sampson,
I think I'm cool with the tank I have....but thanks.
I will however pay for the lodging and a few beers if you can find me a cute little blonde for the weekend up there......But she can't be lame like the one in Killington
You can race my WR if you want I don't care....just have to convince Jay to bring it there for you.....And if you blow the piston you owe me a new top end (which is pretty likely)

I didn't know my new title was "Race Pimp". I have enough of an issue trying to get my own chicks neverthless reel them in for someone else. Heck, put that myspace page to work. Maybe if I get a free moment later tonight I'll start spamming all the hotties around the area and see what we can come up with. But Jay seems to have a pretty good string of them on his page going.
I can do top-end jobs in my sleep. If I blow it up I'll rebuild it no problem. Have you ever done a top-end job before? They are super easy. You just need a gasket kit, a stock piston, ring and top end bearing and thats it. The whole job should take about 2 hours at the most. I try to use stock pistons or Vertex for 2 strokes. Wiseco are allright but sometimes you end up having to drill addtional holes in the piston for oil.
Anyway....Talk to Jay and see if he will put it in the pickup to bring with. I will defnitely bring my gear then.
Are you guys going to cage the front and rear wheels to make them legal to race? I forgot about that. It only takes a few pieces of flat steel and some sheet metal. I'll even kick you down the loot for whatever that costs.
We'll talk about it about more over the next few days or so.
Thanks,
Eric
