Best places/parking lots to practice at..?

    Heyo!

So I got the F2 back in order and running again after my little spill. Put in new Iridium plugs and cleaned the air filter and the velocity stacks and air box. It was pretty cool learning how to do that as I took it apart... first time I've ever done it too!

Anyway... as I'd really like to avoid the same situation I got myself in before, some practice is in order. I'd love to come do a track day but thats out of the the budget.
So I'm asking everyone here if they know of any good, large open parking lots in the northshore area. I'm in Melrose/Stoneham so I doubt anywhere around me as I've looked but maybe someone more familiar with the area around me know of some good places to practice curb avoidance techniques.

As far as some drills go... I have the MSF course book so I could do some more of those, but does anyone else have any suggestions they feel would be beneficial?

Thanks in advance for any and all replies!

Have you tried either the Middle or High school parking lots in Melrose? Bother were re-done fairly recently, so I know their smooth. But I also don't know how intricate they made them.

Schools & churches are usually decent places to practice as they've got regular hours of operation & lots of empty time.

I know it's far, but North Andover has an MSF test location which is lit at night with no people, and the lines are painted on the asphalt for all the test stuff, including that damn box lol, i hate that thing!!! There aren't usually enough people there during the day for the area where the lines are to even get parked in, but people do go in and out since it's a working location.....

Not to sidetrack, but when was the last time you had your fork oil changed? Or the shock serviced? If you're getting weird feedback that giving you the impression that the front tire is losing grip, it could be caused by the suspension needing service. Definitely a good idea to practice in parking lots too, just thought I'd throw another idea out there.

Might be a little far for you but adjacent to the Beverly Airport is a secluded industrial park on Cherry Hill Drive. On the weekends, the entire place is deserted and it does not appear to have a security patrol like some parks do. Plus, there is a nice view of the airfield from several of the parking lots.

Anderson transportation center in Woburn Is ok but the best place around is the area just north of there. Lots of closed businesses and places for sale and security isn`t a problem. Ran into a group of stunters from Haverill there one night while I was scrubbing some of the release agent off a new set of tires. Only rule NO BURN OUTS. Great place to practice just keep the revs and speeds down . Good luck.

Wow... thats really close and super big...

I'll have to check that out and report back on how it is..

I originaly went to square one mall but I found it super sandy... maybe I'll go try again after the rain washes everything away.

WoW that is HuGe! I just looked at it in google maps. If that whole thing is flat, thats like perfect for anyone in the area. Is that a monday - friday business? or what is the best time to go there?

I don't know any parking lots in your area, but I can suggest a book/video that can help.
