    passEnger bikes?

Recently hit a bit of exposable income, and. I'm. Mulling over the idea of a second bike. Clear leaders in this decision are the daytona, and the gsxr.
Has anyone driven both? Which is better with a passanger? And are there any bikes out there that ride better +1? Sport bikes only. No cross overs... no hogs.
I don't know if this is something that manufacturers have bothered with..or if people have noticed, but input would be great!

Not sure if rider experience plays into this... but one season , ex500 only.

Depends on the year GSXR. I've owned an '02 gsxr600 and a '07 Daytona. The GSXR was more comfortable passenger-wise as the pegs on the Daytona were set very high, basically putting your passengers knees into her(or his ) chest. Obviously this is not as big of an issue for shorter passengers, but at 5'7" my wife found it to be uncomfortable.

Did you happen to notice a difference in handling? Based on center of gravity height?

I own the 2011 GSX-R 600 and what I can say about the passenger is this. My fiancé seems more comfortable and has more fun on the GSX-R. My previous bike was a 2011 CBR 600RR and she hated to go on that bike as it was tough on her back (even with suspension adjusted) and was just overall uncomfortable for her.

While I cannot discuss what the daytona I can say she likes the GSX-R

That will all depend on the size of your passenger, as well as how they behave on the back. My wife is fairly light, and a very good passenger, so I barely notice her on the back until I would get on the brakes and feel her weight shift onto my back.

2006 GSXR 1000. My girl says its the most comfortable bike iv owned since iv been with her. ( 04 GSXR 600, 92 & 98 Katanas previously ). my buddy owns an 09 CBR 600 which i found very comfortable riding with a passenger as well.
Obviously after putting so many miles on the 1000 i know better than any other bike Iv owned and probably for that reason I can see its perfect for solo and passenger too.
Whatever you get you ll get used to it IMO

    Re: passEnger bikes?

My friend has a 675r and his girlfriend despises riding on the back of it.

Then again his previous bike was a Harley....

I would recommend a more upright bike for hauling passengers.

Better yet, why not just buy a gixxa/675r, then trade the ex500 for like an old Concours or a Bandit?

Sport bikes suck for riding with a passenger. That's why I got the FZ1 also.

    Re: passEnger bikes?

Was kinda hoping to hang onto the EX500 as i think its the last year they are making them..and it would make a hell of a track bike if i ever get myself to get into that aspect of riding. (which id love to do).
The GSXR is one of the bikes iv always liked, but would the 600 be as comfortable as the 1000? not sure i need the power yet. (certain ill never need all the power in either one)

I have a beautiful 2008 street triple for sale in my garage (not mine). More comfy 2 up than the Daytona.

The 600 and the 1000 will be very close in size. You shouldn't consider engine size so much as an indicator of ergonomics.

Rob's old Yamaha YZF was like riding a couch with an engine. Super duper comfy. We had a friend with an old CBR 600 F4i that was pretty good too. The SV is not as comfy as you'd think it would be, and the FZ6 is OK, but my legs are a little long for the peg placement (5'6", 31" inseam).

Agreed. Or maybe a sport-touring bike would be worth considering?
