    Suggestions on Jackets

My Joe Rocket Ballistic (nylon) just failed last night. The outer zipper broke last year and the inner zipper did the same last night.

I'm thinking about going with leather this time because it stops the wind better. Any suggestions on ones that are comfortable (not too bulky) and have some vents and a liner? Was looking at this one.

Well, I'm a hermaphrodite that lives in CT.

I wear a large, think I need a 44 chest, if I am reading the charts right. Never had a leather riding jacket so I'm not sure which ones are good for night riding and cool days, but also breath well for warmer days.

    (Just joking with the hermaphrodite)

    Stops the pavement better too...

Teknic Chicane leather perforated on closeout at NewEnough for $89. I think its a decent jacket & great value. No liner.

uh... I mean... DAMN, you got Denno all worked up for nothin.

But seriously, instead of buying something random off the net cuz the name of the jacket matches the name of your bike, go to different local shops & actually try stuff on first to make sure it fits the way you want it to. A jacket is pretty useless if it's not comfortable.

Last jacket I bought off the net was flippin awesome but I hardly ever wear it cuz it doesn't fit me well.

You should see what Noel (GixerJockey) has. He's near you.
Also, if it's not too far take a ride to Vanson and check out their seconds and discount rack.

Anyone tried the Scorpion Stinger? The shop that I go to carries them.

    Re: Suggestions on Jackets

got this jacket a couple month ago for only $170 on Motorcycle super store (also got a womans version of it in pink leather for my girl for only $99)

they don't have them on that site anymore but you can still get one here a little over $200... http://www.motorcycleapparel.net/pro...46315-ATT.html

as for warmth it is very good, with all the vents shut you get hardly any air flow, but when you open the 6 vents on a hot day it still keeps you cool if yuo are riding and not sitting in traffic, I wore it on a couple 90 degree days and I almost melted everytime i stopped but just riding along I was surprised at how well it kept me cool seeing it is very heavy leather.

Anyway, definitely go with the leather no matter which brand you get, so much more protection that the nylon ones.

At that price, just get it. If you need a warmer jacket you still have a great summer jacket.

I use the Chicane April-Oct; switch to a non-perforated when it gets really cold (<45*F?). I rarely ride once it consistently gets that cold tho. Beware that you probably won't have much layering ability underneath. Jacket has an athletic cut and if you get the proper size, you probably will only fit a couple long sleeve T's at best underneath.

, not to mention a 48 for Astars might not fit the same as, OH say a Fieldsheer 48

that is really nice, too bad they don't have my size left in the color I like. I'd get one for sure just to have a cooler leather to use.

I kind of like that one and it sounds like it is what I am looking for. Thanks!

    Re: Suggestions on Jackets

I had a nice AGV one that saved my ass when i went down on my gixxer.

Now I have a nice Alpinestar one that i actually use for trackdays too cause its can be made into a two piece suit.

    Anything is better than mesh

Have you checked out the cortec line? Join a club that gets a 20% discount at your local dealer so you can try on what you like. I paid the internet price after my discount and no shipping charge.
