So Thursday I leave for a four day trip with 4 friends, problem is no one has planned any sort of route.
Show my first thought was ride to Lake Ontario (no slab) back through upstate New York into VT. Or maybe lake George, someone in the group suggested PA?
Is there enough riding to keep people occupied for 4 days? Guessing around 300 miles a day.
Can anyone suggest a better idea for a route/destination? We would like @ least one night in a "fun" town? Also if anyone can offer up any routes through upstate New York that would be great.![]()
4 days, 4 states, Maine, NH, Vt, NY state. Keep it close and you should more than cover your 300 mile days, hell we used to cover 450 miles a day back in the day![]()
Yamaha
hell you can spend 4 days driving around the back roads of maine alone....

Gaps Daks
Spend a day and a half running the VT Gaps. End up at Lake Placid night 2 and spend 2 days exploring the NY Daks...run throught the Catskills on the way home!

definitely make your way through the adirondack park in NY if you can. there are some nice parts of VT on the way out, also.
there are some nice places to stay in middlebury VT and then you're a few hours from riding around in the adirondack state park. book a place in middlebury (i'm quite fond of the middlebury inn), and then head out to ticonderoga and keep heading west a bit, then move north.
i think RandyO is pretty knowledgeable about that area, as i've seen many of his posts indicating that's kind of his usual stomping ground. hopefully he'll chime in.

I agree across upper NY and VT
Get an atlas that shows topo projections and head for the hills.
If you cross PA you end up near Niagra but then have to traverse back to the Adirondacks/Catskills
Just do it

I'll actually disagree with all the Vermont/NY posts and suggest the Gaspé peninsula. Great riding, incredible scenery, and it's sufficiently out of the ordinary that it feels way more epic in scope despite being totally doable in four days. You really feel like you've been away and seen something special, instead of just popping over to the next state or whatever.
Catamount and I rode up to Gaspé last September; ride report here:

Gaspé for sure! I rode there a few years back on my Ducati 907. Uncrowded, great roads and scenery. Check out Forillon National Park

And the food is much better than NS: seafood + French = good.
And don't believe everything you think.
I believe a few people are lacking passports, so I think that's out.
So are you saying you want to buy my Cortech Saddlebags?

I've done the Gaspe 3 times...and Nova Scotia/Cape Breton/PEI many more.
All awesomeness ...and I found the food and lodging in Nova Scotia to be delightful....contrary to another post!!!
Even so...for a 4 day ride you really can't beat linking the Gaps with the Daks with the Cats...
