Got the -1 front sprocket installed and went for a ride. I like it a lot better. I think I may end up going +2 in the rear at some point.
I did however botch something with the clutch along the way. I bolted the slave back on without a bracket, noticed, the fixed it. When I went to ride I had ZERO clutch. I fucked with it for an hour, bled the slave and found no bubbles, un installed it and re installed it 7 times, and I have a little clutch now, enough to ride. But with the lever adjusted all the way out it barely disengages the clutch and it grabs immediately with no modulation. Ill try bleeding the master next but it was VERY frustrating. I feel like every time I try to ride this bike I have a problem.
The previous owner put this cheap solid sunstar rear sprocket on, stock 38T, Id get a 40T.
Also, the clutch reservoir says mineral oil only? Isnt it usually just brake fluid? Ill need to find some of that.
edit, cracked the master bleeder and that immediately fixed itGlad I fucked with it for over an hour and it was a 10 second fix. Never would have thought I got air in it, I never opened the system. Oh well, either way, glad it is fixed. Did the front brake too and that stiffened it right up!!! Thing is dialed now. I did learn that I don't have an 11mm wrench though?

Isn’t there supposed to be a spring washer and nut holding that sprocket on?
And I’m almost certain the clutch fluid for the KTM I had was Dot 5 or 6, which is quite a bit different than Dot 4 brake fluid

Yeah, goes WAY back, I had a few sets of Magura Hydraulic rim brakes on my Mtn Bikes in the mid 90s and they used mineral oil. They came with a little kit: bottle of mineral oil, syringe with tubing to bleed them & mini wrench. AWESOME brakes at the time.
GREAT week of weather coming up, hope you got time to get out and put some miles on.![]()
There’s no nut or washer in your picture, holding the counter shaft sprocket, to the counter shaft. A quick google image search for the RC8 also shows a washer and nut holding the counter shaft sprocket on, I tried to save and add the picture but the file wasn’t supported by this site.

The new ones use DOT4 or 5.1. They stopped using mineral oil in the Adventure line in 2016 and went to brake fluid.
FWIW you CANNOT use brake fluid in a mineral oil clutch master/slave, it will eat the seals.
Lastly, the OEM KTM clutch slave sucks. It's plastic and only has a single o-ring, which means with enough heat the bore will get deformed and the piston will "rotate" in the bore and eventually leaks. Get an Oberon slave cylinder if you want to avoid a headache later on.

You've perfectly summed up owning an aging Euro-bike! But man, when they work...they're a work of art.
I think I only ever had two real issues with my RC8. The first was the fork lock; I forget if it had to be re-keyed before I bought it or something, but it broke in the stem and I could only turn the bars one way. Tore it apart and fixed it relatively easily. The other issue was the stator, which was of course the last thing I tested because it seemed like such an unlikely thing to fail.
My Aprilia SXV550 however...that was a drama queen of a bike. I would LOVE to get another one of those, but I would HATE to have to rely on it working every day.
^^
I remember when (maybe R7?) the SXV reliability reports came out

Xrocket21, do you have a louver/shutter system behind the grill of your Raptor? Is that a sham? How many vehicles just have their radiator behind the grill, but ford puts those..
