bike wants to fall into the turn?
put your ass back on the seat a little. by moving your upper body the "right" way you actually have more "leverage" off the bike. the only way to counter the bike from "falling" into the turn is to either add speed or move your ass back onto the seat some and as more speed comes youll have to start getting your butt off some more.

i realize that Tyler is going waaay faster but thats not the point....
Tylers got really good form, shoulder down, head down and over the hand, chin into the turn.
mike has old man form![]()

BTW, sorry to have hijacked your thread, Mike. And especially the critique of your riding position. It's a really good comparison though.
Oxx, it almost looks like Mike is twisting his upper body, while Tyler has is right shoulder past the centerline of the gas tank. Is this a fair assessment?
So this is now the Hey Mike you really suck thread.... Great!![]()

i always say mike sucks so thats no different
its nothing against you mike, honestly. there are a lot of people out there with you doing the same thing you are. im just using this as an example
yes, mike is kinda "crossed up" (not as bad as others i see) whereas tyler is more in line. if we had an aerial view you would see that tylers spine is almost in line with the bike while mikes would look more like from left footpeg to right handlebar.
i/we see this alot especially at trackdays. it starts very early in learning to ride fast. youre trying to get your knee down so you slide your ass way off the bike to accomplish it but pay no attention to your upper body because your so focused on your knee. if you went around the track with minimal to no butt movement but moved your upper body properly, you can just about run at the same pace you were just moving your ass. you wont be getting a knee down or leaning the bike as much though. so you add more speed to get the lean angle and then add a little ass movement.
THIS IS MY OPINION ON THE SUBJECT
this body position limits how fast you can take a turn. the bike can only lean X distance before traction is lost or you run out of tire.
lets take T9 for example
lets say that mike is taking the corner at 60mph.
lets say that the bike is leaned over 35 degrees
mikes knee is down and everything is grand
now lets say mike comes through the same corner at the same speed but with Tylers body position
now hes NOT knee down
and the bike is only leaned over 25 degrees
in order for mike to achieve the same lean angle he had before he would have to increase his speed to say 70mph.
when a bike is cornering, centrifugal and gyroscopical force wants to stand the bike up. if you jumped off the bike in T9, the bike would essentially stand up and ride off. the faster you go, the more centrifugal/gyro force there is. this is why we hang off the bike to counterweight it (like a catamaran).
believe it or not, your upper body weighs more than your ass and its farther away from the center of gravity of the bike so therefor has more leverage to counterweight the bike.
i hope this makes sense because its really hard to explain this on a computer

listen to Oxx, he knows what he's talking about, he helped me find the sweet spot with my body position, and damn feels great![]()
Well said Oxx.....
Not that it matters but credit should be given to whom credit is due......................The pictures Oxx is using to compare Mike to are not Tyler Sweeney, they are of Corey Hildebrand (sp?). Note the #33 not the #745 on the bike.
Now back to our regularly scheduled tear apart Mike's body position thread!
Mike,
It's funny to see these pictures. On my wall in my living room I have some pictures from a previous track day with me on my TL with the yellow bodywork showing, me in black leathers and a red helmet. When I first looked at your photos I said, damn that looks familiar! Glad to see you back on track and enjoying it.

Mike, how'd the bike feel? That thing got a heavier shock spring or adjustable ride height? That thing's a squattin. Swingarm looks too flat. Gotta get that ass up in the air!
Lookin good, bro. Glad to see ya gettin back out there. But I see what Oxx is sayin, ya gotta get that spine in line w/ the bike a little more.

It does have a stiffer mille spring and shock. I think the bike just sits that way

Hm... might wanna check sag & ride height numbers. See how flat it is? Doesn't look right.

I don't care right now as I want to sell it and get an track only SV.
I put a Mille Link in which is a higher set up, but I do have to do a bit more adjusting to raise it up more...
