I believe him, actually.
A young engineer at work had a '99 Mustang GT. He said he got pulled over almost every time he came home from Boston as he looked too young to own the car. He once got stopped five times in one trip. No tickets but lots of attention.
In Boston slammed Civics are everywhere. Add some dark tint and you're a magnet.
“It's 2 minutes for any capable adult.”
Im not saying all...but EVERY single stupid slammed civic Ive seen driving around is generally driving like an ass...might have something to do with the profileing.
Just saying...dont wanna attract the cops? Dont drive like an ass and dont drive a car that everyone else drives like an ass.
I have a hard time believing warnings show on system in cruisers. My supporting evidence is pretty thin, but here it is: Recently I've been pulled over on the same stretch of the same road 3 times and somehow been given a warning all three times. Once in a cage I've since traded, once in the new cage, and then finally on the bike. All three times they've asked me about my record, gone back to the cruiser, and then let me off. At this point I'm pretty sure two run ins were with the same officer. I'm convinced the saving factor for me has been the different vehicles.
I can't believe they'd have let me go if the saw I was a dumbass on the same stretch 3 times in a row.
In other news, I now refuse to use that road ever again. 30MPH limit my arse!
Young engineer I work with has this issue with his Accord. One issue is the dummy keeps tinting it.
If I were a cop and had a reason to stop those cars with tinted windows, they'd all be face down on the sidewalk or looking at a muzzle. Because limo tint is clearly illegal and what are they trying to hide?
So compared to me, most LEO's show admirable restraint.I learned long ago that red cars, tint, and loud exhausts are all "Arrest Me" homing devices.

I'm sure I've said this before.. but profiling exists.. and that's why I don't own my Mitsubishi Evolution anymore. In the 3 years I owned it I got pulled over literally every 3 weeks. Not guilty of a SINGLE ticket, but it was just ruining my mood and time. At one point even the magistrate apologized to me, but said they were still "doing their job". BS. If there is a valid reason I'm driving like an ass, then pull me over. Stock ride height, stock spoiler, stock wheels, stock lights.. call the Evo a ricer but stock externals is stock. Some even wouldn't believe me when I kept a brochure in my car!
Oh, I agree.. to some extent. And then I see the other side to some degree too. He doesn't have 'limo' tint, it is somewhere in between. There are plenty of other cars out there that ship from the factory with darker windows. But his isn't factory either. As a tinkerer, I can relate. I'd try it, but then one ticket is all it would take for me to rip the stuff off and go stock. At this point I think he's an idiot for pushing the subject, and I've told him as much. I should add he probably gets some of the attention for his race and age too.
Greeting every modified car owner muzzle first is juuust a tincy bit overkill. That and police would wear out an awful lot of holsters.
That said, I adore my grey, turbocharged five-door wagon. It is practically invisible. Just don't look too closely at my 'amber' corner markers. I've considered putting some of those silly stick figure family stickers on, even though I'm unmarried with no kids.

The wierd thing about tint is that light trucks are exempt. So a minivan can have dark-tinted side windows, while if it was classified as a sedan it would not.

In the town I work in, the tint on the cruisers are so dark on the side windows that the only way to know if a cop is sitting in the car is to look through the front or back windshield.

According to a local LEO friend written warnings only show up as your plate being "run", they cannot tell why the plate was run or if a written warning was issued.
