Who around the southern NH or northern Mass border has a dyno and really knows how to use it?
I got my hands on a PCIIIUSB and will be doing the pipe and whatever mods and wanted to know if anyone here recommends a place?
(Learned a long time ago just because someone has a tool doesn't mean that they know how to use it.)
Also, what is the general charge or cost for a set of runs?
Thanks!
RJ's powersports in nashua. They have a dyno machine and know how to use it.
derek
Was wondering about them ...
I knew they had the trailer but like I said in my previous post, a tool is only as good as the user.
I did not get the PCIII for power, rather I got it for throttle smoothness especially at low thottle conditions. Rather than do the TRE mod and the PAIR mod, I feel more comfortable getting this unit.
I got a very decent deal from a member in the SVRider forum.
Thanks Degs!
And a happy New Year!![]()
Eric Paquette at DAS Performance in Dracut has a dyno and he knows enough about how to use it to build a 500 odd horsepower GSXROriginally posted by Currently

Look him up and see what his pricing is
Sorry I don't have a number for the shop but Eric is a friend of mine and I would trust him to work on my bike.

I brought my SV to RJ's from R.I. to have my PCIII mapped.![]()
I think it was around $200 everyone I talked to was around $200-$300

Yes polease get it done right
3 out of 4 power commander bikes you can smell the raw gas pouring out the ass end![]()

Real good guy, has a nice Dyno-Jet.

If you have a configuration that is listed on the Dynojet website you can start with the map they have on the website and then tweak (probably richen) it by small amounts in the areas that still feel rough. Just gotta be really careful not to make any really drastic changes. I'm talking like max 5% change in any cell compared to what dynojet thinks is right. One area that was extremely beneficial on mine was the dynojet map didn't really have any changes below 3000-3500rpm where the dyno picked up. Richening it up a little bit down below that area helped the idle and off-idle throttle response a lot.
I've got mine very smooth by doing this, and you can't smell any fuel coming out of the exhaust. I spent a lot of time on it though, far more then if I'd just paid to have it done on the dyno, because I made very small changes, tried them, and saved my work everytime so I could reverse anything that didn't work right. I built about 20 maps in the process.
I'm not sure where people are getting the maps that dump fuel out the exhaust, I agree with richw, many bikes with PC3s are running extremely rich, but the maps from dynojet don't seem to be that rich at all.
I will probably go up to RJs this year but I'm probably going to get different pipes first, I didn't want to pay for the tuning twice.
And I am still nervous about how good it will be if I switch, it's fantastic right now, dead smooth everywhere, no fuel coming out of the exhaust, and the gas mileage has not suffered noticeably.
Hey Joe, lemme know if/when you plan to do this. I wanna get my TL-R down there for some tuning too. Maybe we can get a better price if we bring 'em in together...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I believe that Maximum Power is for overly rich
Maximum fuel mileage is a bit lean I assume you should be able to tune for good efficiency at lower throttle settings and crazy rich when wide open.
Does a tuner give that sort of time or just for maximum power
Nothing this year but I was thinking the cobra thing cause its
cheaper and gives me the thought that it only corrects for EPA extra lean
I would like to smooth my power delivery but the Gixer does not need more overall power, the tire shreading is just fine thank you.
On a normal ride goes like hell and gets like 45 MPG![]()

Sounds like a plan ...
Even if we don't get a price break, we get to meet.
Kind of new here and seems like we have a lot in common.
Right now I am looking at anytime after January,
I am rebuilding the bike and adding a couple of mods using
the insurance settlement check. Low speed lowside and I
was wearing full gear that got scuffed up. My Shoei got scratched
up, will probably send to Shoei to get it tested. Insurance bought me a new one.
(left hander that I saw coming, front brake while leaning to avoid, she admitted fault, no finger pointing and quick settlement!)
There is a point of too rich for correct power just like there is a point of too lean.Originally posted by richw

The problem is the mixture for maximum power & driveability is richer then the mixture for optimum emissions.
The manufacturers are placing optimum emissions very high on the list of priorities.
If this turns into some kind of group thing I'd go for it.. definitely a little later in the year would be better though. Both from a $$ standpoint and from a weather standpoint although I'm really not far from Nashua, as long as it's not snowing I'm good.
Hey I don't care when it gets done ...
Lets plan a group dyno run ...
Money talks and bullshit walks, they got to give us a deal if we can get 5 -10 people together.
Make an outing out of it.
Make a date and lets get a "group buy" together!
5-10 guys in a day is too many to get any good tuning done. There just wouldn't be enough time. If we were doing it strictly for HP runs, sure. But I'd rather a couple of us go and get our shit tuned right. Ya know?![]()

You da boss ...
I am a noob when it comes to that stuff. Take your word that it is time intensive, never seen a dyno run.
Yup ... come up with a date/time and call RJ's or that other shop.
I am free and available after all the parts are on my bike.
Should be available sometime after 3rd week of January.
They are closed on Sundays and close early on Saturdays.
I will be buying CorTech sport bags when I go also.
Spoke to them before about that and they know I want those.
What ever you do don't use nault's. I had them map my bike and it sucked. I borrowed another map from a fellow rider who had the same bike and it rocked. The map he gave me was done at Fast By Ferracci.
Will work for mods!
