Any thoughts on the value of a 1989 Honda CB-1? I have the following info from owner:
*New stator/coils in '09, charging system has been perfect since then. Currently has a lightweight shorai battery
*Carbs cleaned out and jetted properly for current intake/exhaust setup
*New hagon rear shock in 2011
*Front forks replaced with CBR600F2 forks that were rebuilt (new seals, bushings, and oil) in 2011-12
*Valves checked and set to spec in 2012
*Standard maintenance when used as a streetbike 2009-11, oil changes every 2 weekends when used as a racebike 2012-2013, parked since then. Bike was still running excellent then, I just got an SV650 to use as the track toy instead and didn't need another road bike so it sat.
I don't remember what the appearance looks like but I think it's repainted oem bodywork. The CL ad expired and that's where most of the info was. I'm trying to see it this week and just wanted a ballpark idea of the value and saleability as I'm not sure how long I'd keep it.
They're fun little bikes, great starter rig but with the market flood of small-displacement entry level bikes the past few years I think it somewhat hurt the value of bikes such as this. I'd maybe throw $1k at it if it were in great condition but I'd think you'd have a hard time getting much more than that in re-sale down the road unless you found a buyer who was specifically in the market for a CB-1.
I think I know this bike, Novice racer in 2012?
I was just surprised to see another 400 of any ilk out there so he stood out to me. Still racing but I've no idea what he's on now.
I used to have one of these as a daily rider - they have a cult following. Would sell for $2Kish out west, less here. Tons of fun if you plan on riding it around on the street.
Sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

Well I went to see it and it's too rough for me cosmetically, not to mention a little small. It's got woodcraft clipons and seems to run really well. If anyone is interested in a fun cheap cb1 for track duty I'd be happy to pass along his contact information.
I have a soft spot for them, what's he asking for it?
