I've been on Twisted throttle. Are you suggesting I just buy new?

Good price on Givi topcase and rack?

I had this exact setup on my fz6 for 2.5 years. It's very versatile. I have to say the case is large and detracts from the beauty of the FZ6. Now I have the v46 on my Vfr which is smaller but still quite usable. So, if you are buying new look into that one as well.

That's a good set up at $350. The only thing I would do differently is use the SWmotec rack because they are much nicer looking when the bag is off.

But buying the whole set up for $350 shipped, you can't go wrong with either and truthfully, you gret lazy and will leave the mounting plate back there all the time aswell so the slimmer rack isn't that big of a plus.

    Thanks guys! Appreciate it!

I'm gonna go ahead and buy the used set I listed. I don't think I've ever seen a whole used set like this in the 6 months I've owned this Fz6 so I'm gonna buy it and try it out. I know there's probably a cheaper route but this should take some hassle out it. Plus, I heard nothing but great things about Givi and if i don't like it or it doesn't work out, I'm pretty sure I can resell it for close to what I paid for. While potentially ugly, the big case will probably be more useful and allow me to use the car even less.

The SW-Motec rack is definitely better looking, but if you have a passenger the Givi rack is a little more comfortable because it gives more room behind the passenger. Also, the Givi seems sturdier. I loved my Givi setup on the FZ6. It was a great bike for commuting and the occasional long trips. My wife was even more comfortable on it than on my VFR! Great fuel range, center stand, rear pegs low enough to make it comfortable for a passenger, and light enough to be fairly nimble.

I just paid for the whole givi setup so I'm glad to hear that! Hoping to stuff my laptop bag in there as well as give the GF something to lean on when we do our trips (in addition to more cargo room).

Oh, did you have a backrest on yours? I heard that it stuck out too much and passenger's preferred to not have one?

I didn't have a backrest and on the Givi setup I think it would be fine. I would have concerns with the SW-Motec setup. I have the backrest on the VFR - it came with it when I bought the bike. I would have your GF try it without. My wife didn't complain about it. My wife did get used to having the trunk behind and those terrific grab handles on the side which made buying a replacement difficult :-)

I use the back rest on my set up with the SW motec rack. No easy way to put this, if your wife is, "Thicker" she'll have a problem squeezing in. My wife is all of a 110-120 pounds fully geared up so she fits back there no issues and loves her back rest.

I'm using an 09 Street Triple, SW Motec rack, SW motec givi mono key plate, givi e45 (because I am a cheap basterd) with the back rest. We've gone up to Vt. for two nights no issue, I've gone camping overnight solo and I routinely go missing after work and head out to upstate new york with a hammock and book in the case. It's really great and 100% waterproof so if it starts pouring toss your phone & wallet right in.
