    Progressive or straight rate springs on linkless designs for rear shocks

    I just picked up a Honda CB-1 in mint shape. I usually update from stock suspension as older bikes like this tend to be under damped and sprung.

    Since the CB-1 is a linkless design, like the 1989-1990 Honda GT650 Hawk, does it make sense to use a progressive spring in the replacement shock?

    For the street I would say Yes. Bigger bumps and pot holes than on the track.
    track= straight rate

    Can I ask what you're running for a spring rate on your Hawk and what you weigh. I think the hawk and the cb-1 stock rear spring are interchangeable, so I am looking for some kind of baseline and don't have much info

    Thanks
