everyone knows that HP makes up for lack of skill.
sure you could barrell into that corner, brake late, get some serious lean angle, get on the gas soon and spit out the other side at plaid speed on a 600....but why? i could get a 1000 go into the corner slow and steady, dont lean the bike too much, and come out the other side under the speed limit, stand it up and then twist the grip to unleash the 167HP on tap and be at plaid speed in .9 seconds. thats way easier.

I'm not sure it's so much peer pressure as it is trying to make up for something that's not there, if you get what I mean. Much like there is a stereotype that guys who drive big trucks have little weenies, I think that there's something existing along those lines. The bikes that these wannabe showoffs ride do tend to be lookers, and you can't help but take notice of that, because usually they ride like their own the road and have no regard for anyone else around them.
I admit, I sometimes look and at those bikes and feel jealous because they look better than my EX 500, which has a bit of a fat ass, I think. But thinking about their engine displacements scares me because I still consider myself a noob, this being only 1 year since I started riding, and I'm still iffy on slow turns. But then you look at so many videos of these idiots with their baseball caps, flip flops, and shorts, trying to do stoppies, wheelies, and burnouts, then fail majorly, you can't help but laugh. Natural selection at its best.
Yeah, we do have a somewhat unsavory reputation because of idiots like that, but if you want to take the moral high ground here, then behave like you do - with respect to the road, the drivers, and other riders like yourself. It's not as important how others conduct themselves, so long as you make an example of being an upstanding citizen. I figure, being one of the only riders on the road at whatever time, I ride with confidence like I belong on the road, but I also figure that other would be watching me to see how I behave. (Albeit we all know how "watchable/visible" we are on the road).
Anyway, to answer your question, why do teens pick up smoking in high school? Do drugs? Get drunk? Same story, different person.

Ill just say to everyone involved that I apologize and I made a fool of myself. This thread was stupid and I wasted mine snd many others time on it. I've removed all my content except that which is quoted and cannot be removed by me. Again I apologize and it won't happen again.
I vote this thread gets restored. I was having fun reading it.
LXnastynotch93, your mistake was taking to heart everything that was said. The proper response to a difference of opinion on NESR is to say.

There's truth and charm and beauty

Holy shit I wish I caught this thread before the OP edited all the posts.
So yea the live and let live thing has been said, and I do agree with that. But the way I look at it is this... When it comes to owning something some people buy a massive house and are happy to live house broke for owning it. Other's that make the same money live in a trailer, and value spending their money elsewhere. When it comes to riding... a squid on a bike will ride like a squid, while someone that wants to respectfully have fun will do so. Just as someone who is extremely careful will ride as such. Same thing happens in every aspect of society. We all have different personalities. Personally I've talked a few new riders out of buying a 1K SS for a first bike. Hell I WAS that guy and bought a brand new R6 as a first bike. I usually use my experience from racing and riding them, how ridiculously powerful and unforgiving they are, and then explain why I choose not to ride a 1K myself to kind of kill the "bigger is just better" mentality and it works. Do I give a shit if they buy one later on? Hell no. I just don't want to see them killed, I know how I rode my R6 when I first started and I'm surprised I'm still around haha. Thankfully I got into track riding so quickly.
Just my .02. Butthurt people or not its a fun/interesting topic.
Sorry guys I just wanted to keep the arguing down to a dull roar so I decided to delete the posts and apologize. Not a good way to start out on a forum lol.

Hey LX. Come to bike night @ Lowell some night if you're in the area. We'll go to Chinese, have some bad rangoon and some laughs.
Ill take you up on that offer next season because I'm leaving for school tomorrow so my riding season is over unfortunately. I went out for about 60 miles today though so not a bad way to end the season.
Haha if you wish but time space may cease to expand.
Physics arguments!!!!! Work is force expended over a distance. In your example, if we assume both bikes are otherwise the same then both engines perform the same amount of work. The shorter stroked engine would require more force on the piston compared to a long stroke engine in order to produce the same amount of work.
