    Simpson helmets? D'oh!

The iconic helmet seems to have fallen off the edge of the world and I don't recall the last time I saw one out on the street.

Does anyone still use these? At the track maybe?

No idea, but I can say the hardest hit I've taken in a helmet was wearing a Simpson dirt bike helmet years ago. There was a huge chunk of the fiberglass shell missing (a bit bigger than a silver dollar) and spiderweb cracks for another 3" in all directions. I got right up. Damn good helmet in my book.

I've got a new Simpson I use for track days/AutoX in the cars, they seem to be concentrating more on auto racing these days.

Yes, I don't believe I've ever come across a simpson motorcycle helmet, but they are very popular in the car scene.

Sweet! My own personal forum stalker! I figured you were sup3r l33t, but didn’t realize the extent to which you’d go. Tell you what, I’ll make it easy on you. If you really want to chase my jock and look for ammo, there’s plenty. Since head injury and IQ (the latter of which you’re clearly lacking in) seem to be your current favorites, search my posts for “concussion”, “head injury” and “crash” to get yourself started. If you get bored there let me know and I’ll give you some more shit to work with.

Do everyone a favor though, start a new thread in Off Topic, title it “I’m upset because Dan K and most people reading what I’ve posted so far think I’m an idiot” or “Lame attacks on Dan K because he offended me on the internet” and consolidate it all there, so we don’t shit up all the other threads. I’ll even chime in every so often so you feel validated. Deal?

It could be me, but I think that people actaully encourage laughing in the newbie fights, unlike the retard fights. Retard fights are still a touch funnier though. Both are good for a solid laugh so it's 6 to a half dozen really...

No, they are different. In both design and construction.

I thought the main difference is that auto racing helmets must be flame retardant

You can wear the same helmet for either task. Flame retardant is the main difference. Some auto helmets have smaller eye ports and the venting is different. My Bell car helmet has no venting except for non closing vents in the mouth/chin piece.
