I got this letter from a close friend today. If any of you ride on the NYS Thruway, it would be worth representing motorcycles. They charge me the same for my bike as they do for my 7200lb truck! WTF? Never mind if you tow a trailer with your bike.
If you have any mailing groups that you would consider an appropriate venue, could you please pass the word that I will be at the William K Sanford Town Library 629 Albany Shaker Road, Colonie tomorrow evening (Monday March 24th, 6 to 8 PM) at a Public Hearing to discuss the Thruway Toll Hikes.
I will be there to hopefully read a statement regarding what many consider the unfair and discriminatory practice of charging motorcycles pulling small cargo trailers (as many of us do) for THREE axles on the NYS Thruway system (including many bridges). We get charged the same amount as a one ton dually rack truck pulling a utility trailer ($22.80 each way to the PA border).
It would be great if other motorcyclists could be there to show support. This isn't a club or association issue, but I was hoping to get the word out to as many people as I can on such short notice. I only saw this in Saturday's paper.
