I don't wave cos I'm too busy riding and the older I get the more anti-social I've become.
Love them confederates, sweet set up bike and totally different than all the recent custom crap that passes for bike building.
I liked it better when being a biker meant something (yup I'm old),
Coming from overseas no one gave a rats ass what you sort of bike you had , the fact you ride was good enough considering it rained almost all the time
eat me
what did being a biker mean...when it meant something? I'm old too. Maybe I just don't remember???

Hi VfrAndy,
The thing is your playing the same game on a different ball court. Back in 1998 I was in Uppsala, Sweden where I met up with some of my friends that I had met a couple years back in PA and we made a trip down to Monaco, Spain.(some friends, lent me a K1200 for the trip!) It was one of the most memorable trips of my life. The 4 week trip across europe was such an eye opener. The things I did not know about European riders... must say; The best and safest riders in the world are Europeans. The finn, Heikki told me about the complexity in getting a license in Finland, 20 hours of theory, 20 hours of riding lessons, mandatory. Plus you can't just get on superbike after this, first year under 11kW, second and third year under 25kW after that it's up to you. Starting off with a bike that is suitable for your riding experience is key. No wonder you guys can ride!
The things I learned where the differences in culture of which you described in the first post. The harley issue is in fact different in Europe. The "wave" does not leave anybody out, but like you said, you don't wave to the HA's as they do not wave or like being waved to. California was the place of birth for this, but Europe is were they evolved to become ruthless fu#*ers.
You'll just have to adapt to our ways. Good luck with that.
Hope you get use to the shitty roads in this country. Ride Safe.
I don't agree with every word on the original post but I understood his confusion on this issue. I take it he got his answers from users who did not start by being an asshole. Why do low posters have to put up with this BS?
I don't think this comparison was really fair. If your Bike was fitted with a 800cc sportster power plant, it would be funny but fair. This being said, I've had 2 harleys (not EVO) but have gone back to street bikes.
just my 0.02

Well, thank you Joey for feeling it necessary to run to Andy's rescue. He's an adult and I'm sure he can handle some internet BS just fine. That's the beauty of the internet. It's not real... And nobody cares.
You want to know why you, as a "low poster" are going to have to put up with the BS? That's easy... Because you don't know well enough not to bump a sketchy thread and pour gas on a fire that has already burned down to coals.
Congratulations on entering a new community and slinging the "asshole" stuff so freely. You now wear that moniker yourself.

Fuck you Harley bashers
I don't even own one, your bashing only shows your close mined ignorance
you don't have a clue about what motorcycling is to the majority of motorcycle riders

No offense, but neither do you.... You're in the vast minority, Randy.
To the Majority (no matter what they ride), motorcycling is about cliques, looking cool and being better than everyeone else.
Why do you think we have such a poor public image? Because of riders like you who go on adventure rides? No. It's because of ignorant riders w/ more balls & prejudices than common sense & brains.

ya know pete, I like adventure riding, but I also like cruisin 2up at 5mph below the speed limit not wearing gear, and probably do that more often than the average harly rider that does that all the time .... that's what I did 2 weeks ago, 250 miles or so up the Maine coast, even stopped at a bar
I also go sport riding, again, probably more often than the average sport rider does annually
ya, I do adventure rides to
and commute
and long distance
all part of the 30k+ I ride every year
