Can some brief me on the restrictions here in MA when it comes to putting a 2-stroke on the road?
Thanks

if you have the paperwork you can do anything.
AFAIK, it just has to have lights and such.
Got to be more specific. A 1975 Yamaha RD 350 will only need a title. A Honda CR 500 motocrosser will be difficult.
When we did it in NY "gamma" once it was in the USA as a race only then off to the dmv with the mso.
ONly Federal Law EPA bs applied NY State didn't blink...
Don't know now but KTM used to have the NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE printed on the bottom 1/4 inch...OOOpps my scissor slipped

To elaborate on my above post, I believe the only things needed to actually make it legal are headlights/taillights/brakelights/blinkers, fenders(at least front), and a horn. And tires have to have tread, i.e. no slicks. Maybe a gauge cluster or at least a speedo.
The last time I checked, a speedometer was not required in MA, but in addition to the items mentioned above, a high/low beam, with a high beam indicator was. Also, a keyed ignition switch, and at least one mirror. Oh, and a plate light.
I have registered many two stroke dirt bikes in MA without issue. IMO, the registration is the easy part, the inspection is the hard part.

Doh I forgot about those items. Yeah the speedo thing i wasn't sure about since some older bikes didn't have them stock. And a lot of it will have to do with the person doing the inspection, and what kind of mood they're in.
Find something here http://raresportbikesforsale.com/ you liked?
the one huge thing we reject for is a chain guard. IF you are registering a dirty bike you might get hassled at inspection time. Fab one up for inp. OH and DOT tires, pure dirt knobbies are a no-no
Thanks for the feed back on this topic.
The bike I am considering is a RD 350, stock.
I wonder how long we will able to run two strokes on the road before someone puts a stop to the fun.![]()

you are fine they are of course grandfathered
you'll have no issue's registering or getting and RD350 inspected.
provided you have the correct paperwork. That's more an administrative thing
than a 2 stroke thing
