My husbans want to get a rear stand for his ZX-9R. He has to choose between a Lockhart at $80 and a "Fly" at $119.95. THe guy said the fly is in his opinion of better quality than the lockhart, lighter, alloy something...etc.
What do you think? He needs to get it today. He has to remove his rear tire (full of nails) and bring it to the place to have it changed. Speaking of...which tire would you recommend for a ZX-9? The Dunlop, the Pilot Sport Michelin or the Metzler?
Thanks for the help.![]()

Ditto that, IMO no need to spend $30 more for the rearstand...Originally posted by bigred875
IMO a rear stand is a rear stand.... It is personaly preference....some have better features then others. But as long it gets the tire off the ground....
Just get something that lifts the rear wheel, the brand really could matter less for how often it will get used as long as its functional.
Personally, as far as tires go, I am a Bridgestone guy... my race car has Bridgestones, my street cars have Bridgestones and my bikes have Bridgestones... so you know my vote![]()
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
I found the fly for $75

I think the LP stand is a good one though.
As for tires, go with whatever brand is the original equipment for the bike.
derek
Rearstand: LP.
Tires: I agree with Degs.

I have a ZX9R and use a set of Handy Industries stands. They are cheap ($99 for front and rear) and fine for home use. I woundn't recommend them for a race team, but they work good for the casual user. If you can get the free one from Kayara One, that's even better !
I have had great luck with my Bridgestone Battlax tires and recommend them. The BT-010's are great all around tires, and can handle the occasional track day. I haven't used the BT-020s, but I guess they are more track oriented. The BT-014s are the latest and greatest, but a little more pricey because they are a new model.
You can get a front and rear BT-010 from Chaparrel for under $200 for the set the last time I looked.
Karaya One, does that fit for a ZX-9? I mean, it's a universal rear stand? Let me know...thanks!
If he buys it, he's gonna get the Lockhart.

If he's only changing the rear, I'd go with what's up front. Although, I like to change tires in pairs only...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
V - THE STAND IS A UNIVERSAL. It should fit that ZX-9R just fine.
I've had for for about 15 years. It's just taking up space in the garage.
I'll bring it to trackday. If you don't want it, someone will grab it!
