Crazy question I know. I have tracked my zx6r quite a bit and now have it on consignment at a local dealer. The tires on the bike are not worn out but thoroughly scrubbed in. The sales manager recommended I replace the tires as they will scare away some buyers.
I think he is right but being a cheap ass I don't want to buy tires or even deal with the expense of mounting them. I am thinking maybe there is some way to smooth them out a bit. Dunno. Riding the bike works but is not an option as I turned in my plate yesterday.

The dealer's right. I'd shy away from it if I saw it on the showroom floor. You'd do better to find someone to swap out some well used street tires or get a new set.

I ran into this problem when I sold my 04. The bike was as clean as they come, but the tires were scrubbed pretty bad since the last time I rode it was at a track day. The consignment shop said it took some convincing and that if the bike had not been so clean (it literally still looked brand new until you looked at the mileage) I would have lost the sale because of the tires. They still had plenty of tread since they only had about 1500 miles on them but the scrubbing still didn't sit well with potential buyers.
Do another TD in the rain. Maybe get rid of the issue. I didn't sell mine but it smoothed em' out.![]()

Easiest way is to get another set of tires on because the ones on there now will always show signs of stress.
What kinda tires are they?
Personally I sold my sv1000 with severely scrubbed tires and the kid couldnt care less especially after I showed him pictures of WHY they were the way they were.

Swap em out or put 1000 twisty street miles on them. They'll smooth out eventually.

I got all the scrubbing off doing street miles! Works great, but you need some really good corners to get the edges clean! I still have a small amount left on the very outter edges.

Depending what tires you have and life left, etc... you could probably find a tire vendor to swap with you?
In other words, they get your good track capable tires and give you a set of street takeoffs that look good, but aren't great for the track.
Both front and rear bad? I have a extremely gently used BT016 that we pulled off of a 2011 GSXR this year.....we sell 120/180 016's for under $250 brand new. With the rear we would do $200.
buy a new set and sell the takeoffs to recoup some $$
