I had my first crash today. I was coming home from a little ride around town, went into an S-curve on a back road and just as I was leaning over to enter the second curve my rear tire washed out and I lowsided. Thank God I was only going about 25-30mph and had my gear on. The bike wedged itself under the guard rail as I slid on to the shoulder. I got up and looked myself over and all I got was a bit of rash on the back of my leg (from wearing jeans) and a swollen finger.
My gear held up well, only a scuff on the arm of my Icon leather jacket, a slight tear in the palm of my Cortech gloves and some scuffing on my boots. The bike also held up amazingly well, just cracked the rear fairing, bent the exhaust bracket and a bit of rash on the tank. But it still ran, tracks straight, everything works including the lights, so I rode it home.
I'm sure I'll be a bit sore tomorrow, but I am definitely getting leather pants. And a tail swap is now in the works

Not a great end to the ride but the important piece is still working. You! Glad your good to go.
Glad you're okay. I rode 300 miles this weekend, and took it very easy the whole time because no matter where you go the pavement is covered with dust. So I can easily imagine how your tire lost traction -- doesn't take much at the moment!
Yesterday's ride included the infamous T Rd, and I was actually relieved when I was done with it -- the whole thing was covered with a fine grey dust that was nearly impossible to distinguish from the pavement. Sketchy as hell. I felt my tires wander a little more than once. Ended up riding the whole thing in third gear... and barely broke 4000rpm. Definitely the slowest I've ever ridden that road.

Sorry to hear, at least you are OK.
Sorry to hear but glad you are ok. Gotta pay extra attention to road condition at the beginning of the season, too much road shit + relative cold weather.
Sucks, sorry it happened and glad you're OK!
I take it REAL easy this time of year because of all the unseen silt on the roads. Until we've had the street sweepers come through and had a couple of good rains that risk is always out there.
Hoping for a fast recovery.
BTW, I very rarely wear jeans while riding. I was out yesterday wearing my leather pants and armored IXS leather jacket. First time I've not been in the insulated textile great since last year!
EDIT: Mark beat me to it on the silt thing. +1!

Glad to hear that you're OK.
You need to get some pants anyway for that first track day.
Good to hear ur ok
So, is it a myth that you should loosen and re-tighten the triple tree after a get off?
I heard that somewhere, but haven't dropped a bike yet.
glad to hear you're ok and not much damage on you and the bike.
I'm glad you are ok. I went for a ride and felt my tire slip in a few stops today.
I still haven't had the nerve to venture out for this reason, think I'll sit tight until after the next rain. Glad you came out relatively unscathed. heal quickly.
Thanks guys, I was definitely pushing it a bit for the early spring conditions, I'm just glad that both me and the bike came out relatively unscathed. Ironically earlier on that ride I kept thinking about that video of the guy taking off in a parking lot on a brand new GSXR and the tire washing out from under him.
Also kind of funny that the most expensive piece that got destroyed was my CRG bar-end mirror. Everything else made it in pretty good shape.

Sucks. Glad you are in one piece. Coulda been worse.
I was out for a quick grocery store run on Saturday. Felt both the front and rear sliding a bit on all that sand, especially in my neighborhood.
Sucks, glad you lucked out. I still have ice as a hazard. How new are those tires?

Guard rails scare the hell out of me. I had a freind split in half by one. Id consider yourself very lucky you didnt end up were your bike did. The absolute last place i want to crash is nid corner with guard rails nearby.
Wow. Glad to hear you are OK. I agree with BL - guard rails scare me. They certainly were not designed with motorcyclists in mind.
