125's are REALLY slow though. Here in America where most of our roadways are > 50mph, a 125 is simply not up to the task of anything more than local commuting and ripping around towns.
If you want something that's still slow but will at least do highway speeds, you need a 250 at least.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't most people do a motor swap anyway? or at least do enough Mods to where they can get going a little faster then 55 downhill full tuck hahha
Big bore kits are the popular mod with Groms, not motor swaps. But 12" wheels are not really made for high speed use either.

True I mean I guess if your living in a city or just outside a city and have to commute to work a grom would be an okay bike to have beyond that and just wanting to be a hooligan theres no point to them haha
Some work like mine and they hold there own on the main roads and keep right up with traffic... Zuma not so much.

I didn't touch the bore but did coax the most out of the stock 125cc.
Full pipe, Airbox replacement with UNI style mod, BAZZAZ tuner and DCR Cam. The bike pulls 55mph in 3rd at redline. This is fine for uphill pulls on secondary roads. I can hit low 70's on mine as well on flats or with no extra head wind. Drafting helps. The 4th gear feels like an overdrive cog rather than a step after 3rd. Also I will comment that I'm not a big guy but the bike feels small.
With a few bikes at my disposal and I work from home the Grom tends to be used as a short errand machine. Easy to pull out of the garage and just jump on and go. Much like a scooter. My dog runs through the pet fence system once and a while. He being a Chihuahua makes it easy to go find him and put him on my lap and he rides back home in style. The bike also is good for rides to the gym. In full sneaks and shorts I feel it suits the bike.
The longest ride I have done was probably out 20 miles and back. It felt like an epic trip. There is the rub. Want the small, under-size bike drama? Because that is what it's all about. If your idea of a bike is the Vstrom 650 or KLR then you probably have the practical gene in your DNA. If you own a Ducati or any Italian motorcycle, an R1 or a 300cc race bike then the practical gene didn't find its way to you. You sir are GROM ownership material.

Ironically my 1290 Super Adventure is super practical, yet for runs into town I always take the Grom.

So its sounding like I should save up and just Nut up and get a Grom @Ducatirdr How much did you spend total on your mods? A rough guess anyway
Look at Grom – MNNTHBX for pricing of mods. The problem is that the engine isn't the only thing you mod. Bar's, mirrors, shocks..... Probably have spent almost as much as the bike on mods.

I ended up buying a 2017 Z125 a week or so ago. I could not be happier with it! Of the 10 motorcycles I have owned it is already in my top 5, and I'm not even out of break in yet...
Awesome Gongrats.... Little bikes Rule
Here you go....

Just wait until you get some good rubber on it. The Power Pures transformed my Grom from a glorified scooter to a roundabout shredding race bike.

Have you guys done the "$15 fork mod"?

Yes. Took about an hour of work, added an inch of travel, firmed up the forks significantly and made the bike more stable (doesn't feel as "wobbly" in turns). They're much better now. Only issue I notice afterward is some stiction at stop lights.
Well worth the minimal cost.
