    scooter blues

So I had a pretty much a shitty morning.
Had my 49 cc scooter running pretty good after a
full tear down of the carburator over the winter and
I was feeling good about my wrenching skills!
Decided to head out on it for work this morning despite the
    gray weather.

About a mile into my ride the thing sputters and stalls.
Shit, usually it kicks right back up and I'm on my way again.
no... I killed the battery uselessly cranking the thing over.
So now its down to pushing it home.
So much for getting to work on time!

    On the bright side.
Along the way home some guys pulls a U Turn and gets right up
behind me. I think: oh no undercover cop gonna hassle me about
something. Turns out he's just a nice guy offering me help.
I just say thanks but no thanks... He even offers to
haul it in his pickup. But going home is mostly downhill so
I'm ok. As he drives off he remarks about my helmet, I wear my Arai
even on my scooter. As he pulls off I see he's got a Ducati sticker in his
rear window. A fellow rider, cool!

Its nice to know there are some nice people around here that take the time
to help out even if I was in a piss poor mood didn't show any real appreciation!

Well if that was one of you THANKS.

I had a flat tire on the scooter. Had to go get a tube. Shot of ether to get it going and it's been fine since.

I registered it and it cost 3 bucks. I lovethat scooter, despite the haters.

You drank a shot of ether and your flat tire went away?

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Check to make sure no vent hoses coming off the carb are pinched. A mile on a scoot is probably about a float bowl full of fuel. Not even gonna ask if the gas was on.....

I'll double check but that was one of the main things I thought
about as I took it apart.
As for water in the gas, not possible I drained the tank and
    refilled it fresh.

I'm guessing maybe its the automatic choke doing something weird
part way into its cycle. It stalls during or right after full throttle
accel. Or maybe its electrical? Like the the spark timing at high revs?
    Should gotta a Honda!

Denno owned it previously so that maybe it too ?!

They have vaccum operated petcocks too. Make sure that is hooked up and is getting good vaccum or you'll never get gas.
