Yea rode in today, a bit nipply, but I am okay with showing them....
Framingham was warm by the time i got here....
What are you guys wearing for gear when you ride? I was thinking about picking up a textile riding suit this season. I hafta wear (except on Fridays), 'work clothes' that consists of khakis and a button down. (I throw a change of shoes in the luggage).
I have a long commute (52 miles each way), so if it's below 35F, I wear thick socks and my normal riding boots (Hi-Tech Magnum Elite); long underwear bottoms and flannel-lined LL Bean jeans; a gerbings electric jacket, a fleece-line wind breaker; and then my Aerostich one-piece suit over all of it. I also wear Held Hawk gloves and I just recently started using Tusk handlebar muffs. It's nice to arrive warm after 1+ hour of riding in <35 F weather.
1 Piece textile suit + liner if needed. Suit (thankfully) does not really insulate at all, so its just a case of layering. Work clothes underneath
Edited as I apparently cannot spell today
Depends on the weather, of course:
Under 32F- Dont ride
32-40F - Jeans or cargo pants, T-shirt, overshirt, hoodie & vented joe rocket jacket (timbs or lugz for boots), Full Face Helmet
40-50F - Same as above, except kill the hoodie
Over 50 - casual clothes, padded textile jacket, sneakers and optional helmet
Seems like every year I get more and more picky... I recall my first year I would be out in January in my snowmobile gear riding my bike... Now Id just rather wait for the weather :-(
I can bear the cold on my legs... though I could layer that up and also throw on overpants. I can almost deal w/ the chill on my body... and I have a balaclava for cold days (though I've never actually used it...). If I could keep my core temp good that'd be great. And of course, ease of getting in and out of the moto-clothes.
I def. need better gloves... when my hands get cold things are miserable. Even if my body was cold and my hands weren't, I think I could deal.
What suit do you have?
I want to try the Olympia Phantom, or Fieldsheers Cyclone, which they just released.
Rev'It and A* have nice suits, but I know the Rev'It costs a lot... and the A* is maybe a couple hundred under that? The Olympia and Fieldsheer are affordable at $500 or under.

I just bought a pair of HT overpants to wear over my khakis and I always wear either a leather or textile jacket depending on how warm it is out. Most of the time if I'm not riding to work I just wear jeans.
so...what people are saying is that some have been commuting for a while, some just started, some plan to start in the future. Most prefer warmer temps, some dont mind the cold and some avoid both cold and rain. Good info!!
