So assuming I get my bike on the road before it starts snowingI want to get some boots that will be safe for short rides. I have a pair of Alpinestar's race boots that are awesome but I work at the nuke plant and we have better security then the airport so I don't want to have to take my damn boots off ever time I ride to work. Any suggestions??

don't your astars just zip up?
LRRS EX #165 (formerly)
Yea they have a draw string inside, zipper on the side and ratchet type strap across the top. They are a good fit so I have to undo everything to get them on and off. It is just a pain in the ass when you have other people infront and behind you. Holding up the line sucks. Figured I could find something else that would get through the metal detector and still give me good protection. My luck I will go down when I am least protected.

I have the TourMaster Solution road boots. Currently they are about 3yrs and a few crashes old. I'm very happy with them and have even worn them to numerous 10 hour work days.
Thanks I'll check them out.

SMX-4's have a zipper and velcro.
Duct tape is like "The Force". It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
It just has to be able to get through a metal detector. My alpinestars have a metal plate on them so I assume they will not make it through. I may bring one to work just to see if they will go through.

Let's not make this a matter of national security. lol
Your pants have a zipper on them, right? And you don't have to take your draws off every time you go to work...well...I'm just assuming. No details please, thank you.
Godspeed to you!

I purchased a pair of Sidi Tepors this year to replace my 10 year old boots. Very comfortable and supportive- almost as comfortable as my old boots right out of the box. They don't appear to have any appreciable metal parts.
However, they are VERY warm- probably why they offer a vented version.
My feet sweat like I'm wearing plastic bags on my feet. I'm looking forward to riding in the fall.
Good Luck

Lol no the pants stay on but I do have to take off my belt and my jacket that has a zipper won't make it through.
