    @#$%^&* Rim Striping

I don't know how you guys do it. I fucked with one stripe for close to an hour and ended up ripping it off my rear rim because I'll be damned if I can get it straight. It looked like the 105 when I got done with it.

Well, since the TapeWorks kit came with 5 stripes (one supposedly for practice) and I have 4 left, I'd grab some beers for anyone willing to do this shit for me.

Yes John, I'm a pussy when it comes to messing with my bike. I can't wait to attempt to paint the mirror stalks.

If that were true, it's be MUCH easier to do the striping.

put it up on a rearstand, turn the bike on, put it in 6th, have someone pin the throttle & apply tape. Should go on smooth & straight.

I found it easier if you draw a real thin sharp
line around the rim where want to stripe.

If its up on a stand and spin the rim while you hold
    the pencil to it.

It all comes down to patience and I just don't have enough of it to do the striping.

use a rear stand and a water/dish detergent mix...run a hairdryer over the vinyl first....soap up the rim...place it on the rim how you want, squeegee(sp?) then dry with a hairdryer... I'll lend a hand if you want but no garuntees lol

I spent an hour on one stripe. I went slow, had the bike on the rear stand, and used a shop light, like the instructions said to get a uniform reference point.

Must be my shaky hands, because no matter what I did, I just couldn't get it straight. It looked horrible.

Did you purchase the ones that are already preshaped? Those are much easier supposedly then the regular rim tape. It wasn't really tough with the preshaped ones, but you definitely need to be patient and take it slow.

No, just the standard straight ones. I have to pull teeth to get curved ones for my front rim, since it's a 16".

+1 for some sort of soapy water mix that way you move the sticker around without it sticking. or you could hire a pinstriper to paint them on

why dont you get a 17" wheel for the front?

No, just being preemptive for your harassment. I knew it was coming, so I figured I'd insult myself. That way, you don't have any fun.

I did mine when it was on the sidestand. It's not the best it could be but it looks pretty good. I got the thin striping as opposed to the wide striping so any portion that was stright stood out and I could fix it.

Well, after that awesome ride yesterday, I was happy when I got home and wedged between the storm and the front door were my rim stripes that I ordered from that eBay store Joe told us about.

So, I got to do them this afternoon. Some pics:

The rim tape came out good but its not going to make you go faster

Hey wait, stickers add HP, so I must've added at least 25bHP to the CBR, no?!?!

As far as you guys needing to bash me to do shit is because it looks so damned difficult sometimes.

Funny thing is that I never had any hesitation working on my old ATVs. Probably because none of my ATVs ever did 100mph or carried a passenger.
