.....i almost picked up a joe rocket "alter ego" jacket the other day when i was down in concord, but didnt because i wanted to see what else was in my price range, etc.....im sure most of you guys have one brand or another, are there any particular jackets you like?..any brand i should avoid?....i have been riding mostly with a leather jacket, but in summer, its pretty unbearable when its hot...the tourmaster jackets seem pretty decent.....waz up??![]()
I wear an Alpinestars stunt leather jacket myself. Being that I ride an R1 with underseat exhaust, its my ass that roasts in the summer, distracting me from any other heat.
The jacket is very well made and I have not had any problems with the A* line of clothing except that some of it can get pricey. You are getting what you pay for with them. They also have perforated lines of both leather and mesh jackets too.

Here is my summer jacket. Its reinforced material on the forearms, elbows shoulders etc. The mesh on the chest and under arms to allow for proper venting. Rev'it makes nice stuff.

I've got a Joe Rocket textile, love it except a velcro strap start tearing away from the cuff. I've got leather and mesh jackets too...the textile is great for when I know it might rain, it's pretty much waterproof, and wear it when it's colder, for some reason it's warmer than my leather.

I ride with the alter ego jacket and pants, and I for one think its a great product line. Both of them held up in my little accident during a ride last year and I still where them today. I would definitely buy them again no hesitation.
If the heat is unbearable, you live in NH, just take off your helmet. My grandmother taught me that 90% of your body heat escapes through your head...![]()
I'm on my second season with this jacket. And am very satisfied with it.
I've had Icon in the past and they were just ok...kinda cheap quality, at least their textiles. IMO
Alot of mesh jackets I find too loose and floppy.
Seems like the pads would shift in a fall.
I now have a RevIt AirForce... its pretty slick looking and flows air inside very well.
Moto Market's got them.

+1 to the Rev'it AirForce.
Tourmaster Cortech GX-air 2. in Gray. The lighter color REALLY helps with the heat.
It has a zip out rain/wind proof liner and another insulated one.
CE armor... very nice. $175

Joe Rocket UFO I use on the hot days, take out the liner and it's like riding in a t-shirt, leather for the colder days or more aggressive riding, but the mesh is good for puttin around town and in traffic..
I've got the Rev'It Ignition jacket. I like having the leather on the sleeves and shoulders. I also really like that it has removable layers - both a quilted vest liner and a waterproof liner.
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
Just picked up a Teknic Freeway for 210 off of bikebandit. It's their top of the line touring jacket.... reviews says it's comfortable up to 80 degrees w/ the vents open & liner out.
Should be arriving tomorrow... can't wait!

Just got a Joe Rocket Alter ego 2 - tall. I am 220lbs and 6'3" tall. I'm thinking that I should have ordered the regular Ex Lrg.
The inner mesh jacket doesn't fasten at the top. When you zip up the inner mesh jacket, it doesn't stay zipped. Other than that, I might keep it....
Cortech stuff is the cat's meow.
FWIW; I've heard some really nasty stories on other forums about the Joe Rocket mesh stuff disintegrating upon impact. Not sure if that's been improved upon in the last year, but I figured I'd throw that out there anyways.
For very hot days I have the all black version of this: Vanson Leathers Motorcycle Jacket - NEW VENT MAX
It has leather and CE armor in the elbows and shoulders plus a soft back protector. The only problem with it is getting stuck in the rain at highway speeds because it feels like someone constantly throwing handfulls of BB's at your bare skin.
