    Longest Mileage on Tires:

Just curious, what's the highest mileage you've run 1 set of tires?
I'm getting some new rubber spooned on tomorrow (Conti Road Attack II) and after checking my books, I realized I really piled the miles on in about a year's time.

Brand, front mileage, rear mileage, how old the tires were, condition:

    Metzler Tourance
-Front and Rear: 6600 miles, 9 years old, hard as plastic.

    Michelin Pilot Road
    - Rear 11,000 miles, 1 year old, dry rot, tread pulling apart.
    - Front 17,000 miles, 1 year 2 months old, slight scalloping.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

    holy chit man...

I have been trying different tires for years now on 3 different Ducs. An ST2, 2007 Multi and a 2010 Multi. Best I've gotten on rear was 6700 miles on Dunlop Road Smarts. Everything else is about 5k...Period.

BTW, the fronts almost always look good but I change em anyway. So, can't say what kind of mileage I'd get.

However, Michelin Pilot CT, Roads fronts always introduce a weird low speed wobble about the time I replace the rears. Not sure why that is...other brands don't.

Some day I'll put together a chart of all the tires I've tried and the mileage.

Isn't the bike and how its ridden a huge set of variables here? If you get 10k out of a tire on a gixxah pulling wheelies and riding aggressively all day, I'm impressed. If you get 10k out of a tire on a 250 used by a bean-pole for easy commuting, well, not so much.

    No?

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I've gotten up to about 12k miles on a front Bridgestone Battlewing, and close to that on a front Shinko 705, both on my Wee-Strom. The Shinko, being a 70/30 tire, had started to chisel a bit, but could have easily gone another few thousand miles, but I sold the bike to my dad and put a set of Battlewings on for him.

Best I've gotten out of a rear tire, though, is a little over 8000 miles (the original Bridgestone Trailwing that came on the Strom). I also had nearly 8000 miles on the rear Battlewing on my Tiger when I pulled it off a couple of weeks ago; it could have gone at least another thousand miles, maybe 2000, but I wanted to put on more dirt-oriented tires.

FWIW, I'm 6'4"/260, so I'm fairly hard on tires.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I used to be a huge fan of the different Contis (first Road Attack then the ContiMotion) but I think I'm officially off of that bandwagon now. I had a Road Attack front that cupped so badly that it would induce nasty headshake, and there was still tons of life left on the tire. I replaced it with a Pilot Power 2CT, and I've been a Michelin fan since. I kept trying ContiMotion rears, but on the Sprint they just don't work. I can get 5-6k out of them, but they flat spot pretty badly and go from OK to done very quickly. I now have a matching set of Pilot Road 2s that I expect to last 7-8k on the rear. The front has 5-6k on it right now and is wearing very well.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I got about 8k on my V-strom1000 rear tire (general altimax artic) and expect at least 25k if not 40k, I know of other darksiders that have got over 100k on a rear

most I ever got out of a rear MC tire is 13k, that was a Avon Azaro ST on my SV650

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I had over 10k on a set of Pilot Powers and they looked and felt great before I chucked the bike down the road. I thought I was a quick road rider back then too but of course I don't weigh anything either.

right now my NTECs have been on the race bike for a long time. had two fast expert races on them when I bought them. front has been on for every dry race/practice (missed 1 practice this weekend) and 4 track days, rear has been on for all but I think 2 practices and 1 track day. 3 races a weekend, 1 being a GT. still going strong.

I will be giving tire management clinics every time I am at the track

I've put 17,200 miles so far on my rear Pilot Power and it's very flat-spotted but not down to the wear bars yet. The front PP lasted around 15k before failing MA inspection this spring.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I'm no track-day guy... so all my mileage is hard street... 500lb bike, 220lb rider, 2 up a lot, full bags a lot, wheelies daily almost... +80 daily... a dozen or two times topping out the bike...

So, 16k and 11k are really damn good on a big-ass dual sport.

I'd expect anyone who does a track day to get below 6000 miles out of a tire. That's kind of a given.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I never paid much attention, but I don't think I ever got more than 5k out of a rear tire on my old 1200. I have never known enough about tires to even remember what they were, except that they were "sport touring" models.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I've gotten a little over 18K out of a set of Pirelli Diablo Stradas on my 2000 ZRX. Currently have just under 10K on a set of Angels and there is plenty of life left in them.

Yes, most of my riding is commuting; a 130 mile minimum r/t commute to work. When I am lucky and have some time, I will stretch the ride home to well over 100 miles on back roads. More often than not, however, they tend to be rather mellow miles.

    Re: Longest Mileage on Tires:

I usually get around 18-20k out of a rear Pilot Road 2, and 13k out of a front Pilot Power or Pilot Pure. That was with one trackday, the rest fairly easy commuting and mountain rides
