Okay guys, I have a buddy who is new to bikes. Never seen road rash, thinks it can't be much worse then a peddle bike accident. Help me out; Post up some pictures of your without gear road rash and if you have good pics of how gear saved your ass post that up too.
Thanks guys!!!
your friend is a moron... no offense.
here's my left arm after a real minor lowside in turn 6... wearing full Vanson Leathers... Unfortunately the gear failed. Scar of the same size/shape will be there forever, but it could have been a LOT worse. Having experienced this personally I don't even want to think about crashing on an interstate at 85mph in shorts and a T-shirt. The list of heinous shit I'd rather do is long...

Attachment 21368 that happened WITH FULL LEATHERS

Thanks guys, keep them coming. He's a good kid that means well but just doesn't get it. I've seen other things he is like that in and if someone convinces him he is the type that it really will stick, it's just convincing him![]()

Ride2die.com orsomething like that.
Everytime I find myself getting "crazy" I re-vusit that site. Keeps me grounded

I don't have any pics off rash... because I've always had gear on... but here's a good shot of a time I was damn glad I did (at what was probably highish highway speeds).

Google image search for Brittany Morrow. Hell just search and read up on her. Female rider from Albuquerque that got MANGLED and now preaches about gear.

I can resist everything but Pete's mom.

Two things.
First, show him pics of Keith's crash on our WV/TN/NC/VA trip:
And let him know that because he was wearing proper gear, Keith walked away from the crash with nothing more than some minor bruises. If he hadn't been wearing good gear, he would have been injured badly. His helmet was scratched up on all sides, including the faceshield, and the leather on the left shoulder of his jacket was actually torn (not the seam, the actual leather -- had Keith been riding in a t-shirt, that would have been his shoulder shattering and tearing open).
Second, invite him along on group rides on which everyone's wearing full gear. And bring him to Bike Night and set Doc loose on him.

I also second britany morrow, couldn't remember her name, as well as ridetodie.com. I can't even look at most of the shi+ on that site without getting nauteaus
This was WITH gear:
Few weeks later. Freshly removed bandages. I was alternating between bandaging and letting my wounds breathe. In this pic, my shoulder is still leaching some of the road grime that was ground into my skin. I could go on about the level of discomfort thru-out the entire healing process. I'll leave it at "not fun".
