i wanna stud the 50 tonight.
how?
its an old one, with fat tires and small knobby's? If i put the 1/2" screws in there they will go right through the tube too.
So... what should i do?
One idea thats been mentioned, pull the wheels and put screws out from the inside, then lay down a rubber pad and to seperate the tube from the screws and reassemble.

I've seen it done with basic tech screws - just put them in the knobbies, and they dont penetrate all the way through the tire.
i am pretty sure they will get through. the knobby's arent really knobby's on this thing... more like... bumps.![]()

If it's worth it Brent do the meathod you mentioned and do the screws from the inside on the tires you have now, then but a second set of tires so you will not have to put new spikes in another set of tires next winter.
I was just using tech screws and removing them come spring, the screws tear up the tread a little bit but nothing like internal spikes!

DUDE - THOSE TIRES COST $12 EACH.
Buy some new tires and stud them, you cheap bastard.![]()
you = pain in the ass.
they are cheap, but not trivial to find.
these tires are pretty new... the knobs just arent big enough.

You can cut up a bicycle tube to put inside over the studs.
Where you place the studs can have a big effect too.. as can the tread pattern.
I still haven't figured out what tire pressure to run with studs yet though. I got really sick studded tires for my mountain bike and it is still pretty tricky to set it up to work well in a wide variety of conditions.

Oh yah, "slightly Mod'd"? Yah right kid, you put a 90CC quad motor in it! You have to hang over the front wheel when you shift out of first gear, or it'll fling you off. Jackass!![]()
