First their scam
My radar detector cover came apart at speed , flew up and disappeared and I could not find it.
The board dangled from its cord and seemed to boot up etc fine.
so
First I called Escort and asked to buy a case. They said we don't sell parts but would be happy to install a new case for 39 rip off for 1 oz of plastic but OK go ahead.
6 weeks later I am calling and emailing an low and behold their "tech" says there is water damage and a broken button ( green connector goo I suspect and I didn't see anything broke)
They now will give me a fixed up unit for a mear $150. So I will have a brandy new one with 20 year old technology ???? note NOT upgraded to x50 sensitivity.
Being old and cheap I will buy something else but would like to be $200
I have a radar screamer so would be nice If I could just plug into an earphone hole but could make it work regardless.
Anybody happy ? and would recommend
Note I am convinced I am saved at least 1 ticket a year so yada yada...

They are probably determining water damage via water damage detector
If this thing rides shotgun on your handlebar, I wonder if the constant exposure to high ambient humidity could trip it.
Btw, your paragraph is very difficult to read, and seems like it has some incomplete statements. I'm not even sure what you are asking.

Recommend him a cheap radar detector...
I'm not sure about cheap ones, but I'm Valentine or nothing, in the cage I use an escort shifter for lidar though.
Ironic as to how you're such a proponent of big business interests and are now seeing the other side of things.
Edit: on topic.....there is no such thing as a good cheap detector. No sense in throwing good money away on a cheap one only to get popped for a $500 ticket.

that's his signature style, I thought it was only for the tin foil hat posts, but all of his posts are semi-stream of conciousness with a few missing words. I think it's to save typing time.
and unless you've added Escort to your list of left wing-enviro loving commies you won't do business with here is a factory refurbished / warrantied 8500 W/x50 tech for $200

a new under $200 detector will either drive you crazier with false alarms or cost you a ticket with slow/weak response. Stick with the escort.
Beltronics pro 65 Amazon $199
Allegedly little better than 8500 x50
There is also a funny looking cobra that even has the gps data base for like 179

All of the software is upgraded to the latest and greatest, just like a Valentine One when you send it in. And they will warranty the detector for 6 months as well. But no, the 8500 does not have GPS capabilities, so they can't go that far. I sent in the one I got from here and it came back like new. They also threw in a new windshield mount and spare suction cups.

I have a Valentine One. It's been sitting on the top bookcase shelf beside my desk for 4 years now, and probably staying there.
The reason is because on my bike it got in the habit of giving off laser signal warnings at ever-increasing frequency. It doesn't do that in the car, but since I now drive a company car I'm driving no more than 7 over the posted limit....everywhere.
I have simply slowed down to the point where I just don't need it. There's so much instant, moving radar out there now that the detector's chief function seems to be notifying you that you're about to get a ticket. I actually seemed to ride slower with it than without.
It's all about knowing where the cops are likely to be, and when. The electronic countermeasures can be nice, but none of them are foolproof and I am done being a fool.

Escort and Beltronics are the same company now so most of the high end units between the brands are remarkably similar. If maximum protection is your desire, the Escort Redline is the one to beat at the moment but it's up there in price.
