I know there's been a few CBR F4 track bikes on here...
So my CBR F4 I recently acquired for primarily track riding doesn't come from the factory with threads for swingarm spools. There's two popular ways of adding spools, drilling the swingarm and installing rivnuts (pic1) or welding on threaded tabs to the swingarm (pic2). Pit-bull sells both of these.
I'm planning on installing the rivnuts - more info in This link. Anyone have any good reasons why I shouldn't go with this option? Obviously I'll verify that they won't interfere with the rear axle adjusters, and that they won't hit the exhaust on full compression.

I installed rivnuts on a previous bike without any issues. if I had to do it again I think I like the idea of the weld on tabs better

Check out using well nuts. Similar to riv nuts by don't require a specialty tool to install. If you happen to go down and rip something off they'll just tear apart instead of possibly damaging the swing arm. They're basically just a rubber "T" shaped sleeve with a threaded insert. I've had good success with them in 4x4 application so they're pretty durable.

I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
well nuts are for attaching windscreens not spools in the swingarm.
I don't remember needing a special tool when I installed them but I did use the tool when installing the rivnuts for my Woodcraft shark guard.

Yeah I don't think I'd trust a couple rubber well nuts holding up the weight of the bike, plus me sitting on it.
I'm leaning towards the weld-on tabs now, just makes it more of a project
I would personally go the weld-on option or get those chain adjusters w/ the built-in lifters if you want a bolt-on solution. e.g. Gilles chain adj w/ lifter pic.
It might be easier to use a stand that lifts the bike from under the swingarm. Than you would not need the rivnuts or weld on tabs.
So far I've just used pad stands rather than spools. My rear stand is convertible between pads and spools.![]()
