I need to attend a wedding next weekend up in Starksboro VT. If the weather is good I was thinking I would make the best of it and ride out there. Any suggestions for an enjoyable ride there from Boston?
Any roads to check out while in the area?
I will head up on Friday morning and have the whole day to take my time, may have a chance to ride in the area again on Saturday, and then get to come home just in time for everyone and their brother coming in to town for the fireworks (why do people plan these things for 4th of July weekend?). Hopefully the weather is good, otherwise I slab it in the family wagon.

How 'bout Rte 119 to Brattleboro, then Rte 9 west to Rte 100 north ...
To get to 119 from Boston, I'd take Rte 2 west to Concord MA, then take Lowell Road or Monument Street to Rte 225 in Carlisle. Go left on 225 and go few miles to Rte 27, go left (west) on 27 to 119. (I avoid at all costs going through the Rte 2 rotary at the prison in W Concord, and that way you avoid the retail nightmare of that section of 2A/119.)
And be sure to observe posted speed limits in Concord & Carlisle.

And don't believe everything you think.
Sounds like a good time to come across App Gap (VT-17 between Waitsfield and Bristol), then head north on 116 to get to Starksboro.
2nd on the App. Gap Rt 17 just awesome. I always try to get to Rt 140 between Wallingford and Poultney,a personal favorite. And you would'nt be that far from that secret road in NY, starts with a T ends with a Y. A real " RACY" road,HEHEHEHE. Also Rt123 in Nh is a nice route to the river.

Thanks for all the recommendations. The weather is looking good for the weekend and I am actually now looking forward to the event.

BTW, had a ton of fun on my trip.
Riding up to VT Friday morning was especially fun: Cleared Brattleboro and hit Rte 100 just after noon. Ended up riding with an impromptu collection of three other riders along 100: a couple that had a Ducati (ok, I missed the model, paying more attention to the road) and a ZX-6R, and another guy on a sport touring setup I also failed to identify. It picked up my pace a bit.
App Gap was nice, although I made the mistake of stopping at the viewing spot in the middle and found myself stopped pointing down an incline a few feet from the guard rail. Would have probably done myself in trying to muscle the bike backwards, fortunately someone (the previously mentioned Ducati rider?) saw my state of distress and helped me back it up.
Heading back on the 4th was a bit less fun. I managed to lose track of Rte 100 a couple of times and got detoured into who knows where a couple of times due to parades and such.
All in all a good time was had.
