I'm planning to ride to NYC for a convention and am looking to take some "nice roads" in addition to any slab I need to. Wondering if anyone has done this ride and knows some good roads, that will not make it into a 10 hour trip.
I realize ill prolly need to have some slab, but Id like to do an uneven mix.
Thanks,
Manny
Take the Merrit Parkway to the Henry Hudson Parkway. I did this route hundreds of times when I was in NYC a lot.
A nice ride at this time of year.
Putting his hands in the air, like he just doesn't care.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
I concur... It's actually the fastest way to get there, too.
Definitely watch out for the LEO's like Beet said... It's a 55MPH road, but it's pretty easy to get "caught up in the moment" once the hills start rolling. Also note that it's only 2 lanes which can cause some (slow cage) frustration. They have even filled that steel grate bridge near the NY border... maaaan, that thing used to be scary as hell when it was raining.
thats the route ive taken by car - but I was thinking of something more to make it a real "ride" --
Just head west through the Berkshires then down
the Taconic Parkway
If you really want to take the long way
Through the berkshires
go south of Albany and cross the hudson on 23
then up into the Catskills and 2 lane down to
near the Delaware river
Note 214 WFO but all of rt 28 is a speed trap
Head through Harriman State Park to cross the
Hudson back at Bear Mountain then down to NYC
That would Kill about 10 hours
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
Fuck the taconic. Take something like the pike west, first. Get off somewhere in MA that will take you to rt 57 (it goes along SW mass), take 57 to 23 I believe it is, then continue on 23 west into NY to 22 south, take 22 south most of the way. It's a nice back road that's very middle of no-where-ish and you can still do highway speeds on it.
That route does look good. Are 57 and 23 nice rides as well?
Any clue what type of mileage/time that route would be?
Edit: Looks to be about 300 miles or so. I guess 57 is prolly better than a combination of 202/20.
23 and 57 are very nice rides
