Would love to ride somewhere to stay for Memorial day weekend, and check out some new roads. I was considering Lake George, as I have not been there but will it be nuts/obnoxious Memorial day weekend? Suggestions on places to stay? I usually trust Trip Advisor but all the hotel/motels looked like bland chains or tacky/overpriced mediocrity.
Any suggestions for other destinations that are rideable in a day with a nice town to stay in and great riding in the surrounding area? Would like to head out Saturday, stay somewhere Saturday and Sunday night, and head back Monday.

That IS Lake George.
How about Lake Placid? Stowe, Woodstock, or Middlebury VT?
yeah Lake George is a bit of a let down. Plenty of great little towns to stay in in VT. Nice bed and breakfast etc.
VT, upstate NY, NH & Maine. You can do it all, in a long WE!

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
waitsfield VT area. If you've already been there done that, Lake Placid is fun, but quite a bit further to get to. Hunter Mt. NY is a cool area. There's a funky little town called Phonecia that is fun to stay in. Ride the catskills. Don't miss the road around the big reservoirs that water NYC.
Northern VT, northern NH. Although NH is probably gonna be less ching than VT...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I'd not go to Lake George around Mem weekend.
If you got time, go to the north of Maine, away from the shore/ lakes, populated and touristy places like Acadia etc. You'd be really surprised how many roads out there are in pretty good shape (paved) and super twisty. There are a bunch going from Bangor going West that had no cars and wicked fun to ride. Everything is supercheap too.
Watch out for da Moose and squirrel!
Forgot about Maine. Up in the Kathadin area or near Presque Isle is beautiful. Quite a haul though!

The trolley stops right out front ($2 round trip to Lake George). Nice not to have to take the bike after a long day of riding and even nicer to have a designated driver on the way back to the hotel. Don't worry about being wobbly on the trolley ride home. Everyone else will be similarly over served.
Planning on checking out lake george area during Americade, june 8-10th
Lake Placid... hands down.... bit of a ride, but once you get into VT the roads are killer. The town is a blast with a ton of sites and scenery that are awesome.
I actually like Lake George, there is a ton of stuff to do around there for a long weekend. But I wouldnt go on a holiday weekend at all.
