Figured I'd ask you guys cause I like 3 of you.
I just picked this up from the PO who owned it for 9 years - 32k miles, 99.99% stock, well maintained, runs 100%, had the carbs and forks done last season, recent tires, lower temp t-stat, OEM repair & owners manual, OEM tool kit, previous owner installed a little clock & thermometer near the cluster and that's the only mod.
Only real cosmetic issues are a slightly scuffed exhaust, faded hand controls and the body work could use a good buff and wax.
Small world, the guy I bought my one owner 1993 CBR900RR from had one of these in his garage that he also bought. The motor failed due to the 'soft cam' issue. This bike doesn't have that - aside from a little bit of timing chain noise when cold (probably a lazy tensioner) it sounds brand new.
I got it for a good price (IMO). I'm wondering what you guys think. The 1000Fs seem elusive - I haven't seen one on ebay in some time nor North East Craigslist
Thanks for reading!
I will assume that is the R model
Book puts those between 335-2225

I'd rock it. The classics are pretty cool and I'm getting old enough now that the bikes of my youth are the classics.
I'd say about a grand on a good day. Be easier to get that in the spring vs now.

It's not an R, it's an F, and I have one too!
I bought mine like 3 weeks ago for $700 delivered about 60 miles. I probably could have gotten it for $600 if I picked it up. Not the best deal in the world, but I was in a serious bind for a cheap running bike.
I got it on a Tuesday, rode it to work on Wednesday, Thursday I rode it from Boston -> Brooklyn -> NJ -> Boston -> Bangor -> Boston....absolutely zero issues. The thing is awesome. I now ride it like 3 days a week mixing it in with my Aprilia and KZ1300.
I should add that mine is ugly AF. It was apparently in a wreck a while ago and seems to have been properly repaired, but when the tank started seeping, I chipped away about 30lbs of Bondo and started finding small pinholes that had developed from the repairs.
They're a 1 year only bike, and not real valuable...yours is probably worth $1500 in season. In my opinion worth more to keep it as a spare bike and ride it once in a while. When they're tuned right they have plenty of power and are pretty fun. I insured mine the other day and it was $70.

I've also heard (and seen first hand on the 500 and 750's) that they're really prone to head gasket issues, so that t-stat will probably help.
I also got mine to wheelie the other day. Honest.
I think you over paid
Garrett, what did you pay?
I have an '00 800FI because I wanted something modern at the time, but I love the old stuff too. Check out ww.vfrdiscussion.com if you haven't already.

It's headed off to Dallas next weekend. Buyer was very happy.
I recently came into ownership of a 1984 Interceptor Vf500f. I had been looking for one of these bikes for a while. It's my first bike. I paid 1,000 for it. It looks like it is in mint condition, and runs great. Leaks a little radiator fluid when it gets very cold and oil on really long trips, but I maintain it and it still runs like a top. got it at 31k, nearing 33k after 2 months of ownership.
I would say you could get between 1200-2500 for the bike you have there if it really does run well, given that looking at craigslist I got a decent deal on my vf500 and yours is more rare in my opinion (I haven't seen one for sale yet).
I predict he gets $2500 from a buyer in Dallas who will be very happy
