I thought I had posted something in regards to this a while back, but as I'm getting older, my memory sucks, so I'm sorry if this is a repost, but it is for a good cause. This could be made a sticky if Jay think it's a good idea?
It would be nice to have a list of volunteer chaperones, with screen names and town/city they are in, to be available for newbies on bikes to browse thru. What the chaperone would do is go on a ride, or two (or more) with someone who is in need of a help getting out there on their new bikes, but are afraid to go alone for the first few times.
The chaperone would be in NO WAY held responsible for the newbie. We would serve solely as a riding buddy to accompany a new rider on the roads. The job of teaching how to ride should be left to MSF instructors, not us. Altho a few pointers/advices could be given, that's about as far as it would go.
When I first started riding, I remember ChR1s and Paige taking me out on a long ride thru the Berkshires, when I was too afraid to go on my own. They invited me to join their ride, and it helped me a lot.
It always bug me to see new riders being left on their own after they get a bike, or take the MSF class, and have no one to take them out on longer rides, away from just around their neighborhood. Would be nice to have some type of "support ring" composed of a few good souls willing to help out.![]()

I think we already have that...sort of.
If a newbie posts about needing to get out, I have seen many NESRian's step up to the plate.
True...true. I just hope none of them will be afraid of asking for help, if they need it. I know for a fact that one can be reluctant asking on a forum, for fear of standing out too much as "The newb"...lol

pending approval there is a nice secluded, heavily wooded road that we will meet at to complete the classroom portion of the Denno Experience. Just a short hike in the woods to the school house and we'll be on our way.
that should do it
Throw me on the list.

I am down. Burlington/woburn area. like viva the person must wear gear. this is a great idea. i can't even count how many stupid things i did that could have been prevented had i ridden with someone who knew what they were doing. i think this could (and this is a long shot) reduce the amount of squid like behavior. provided we get to them soon enough.
