Hey guys I am in the market for a new set of rubbers for my RC. I have the standard 120/55-17 up front and am looking for that and a 190/55-17 rear. Brand does not really matter to me however I would prefer people to suggest some good brand of tires they would reccomend or have used.
Currently I run shinkos and I have no complaints about them except they wore quickly after a big burn out I did.
There must be some end of season deals someone could direct me towards. Thank you.

I bought a set of BT-023's last month for my commuter. For the price, I couldn't find a better tire that had gotten consistently good reviews and had the best grip, mileage, and wet weather performance. After 2k miles riding literally every day, I have been very impressed. For the street, this is all the tire you'll ever need.
Chaparral has them for $217/shipped (might be a little more for 190 sizes):

wow that is a good price, $220 shipped for both, I will bookmark that and think about it. just aiting for others to chime in too, but I may have all the info I already need. there could be last year model-tire blowouts we are unaware of too, I won't hold my breath too long. thank you!

I just grabbed a set of Battlax S20's for $220 shipped to my door from moto mummy.com. They are on my Gsxr and so far I am digging them.

I love my Michelin 2cts. I've only run them for a few hundred miles on the road, but 4 times on the track already. On the road they're comfortable and handle wet and dry well. On the track I think they're awesome for a street tire. Tons of grip. I got mine back in July for $220 shipped.3
Also they seem to be wearing very nicely. For having beat the crap out of them at the track since mile 0, there's still plenty of life left.

The RC51 was designed for a 180 rear....having said that I always ran a 190 over the 6 years I had mine. I tried a few tires and was happiest with the original Pilot Powers...the rear is a steep profile so it seemed to work real well making the RC fall into corners.
Not sure what youd have to pay for a set, but they are fantastic. Tires is absolutly an area you should NOT skimp on. Good luck.
Nope. My version of skimping was meant as buying shit tires to save $25.00
Sport touring tires are great for sport touring.
My RC came from the factory with a 190 on it I've never seen one with a 180 series tire on it

I always ran 180 rears on both my RC51's for quicker turn in with a smaller radius tire. If you riding agressive and doing track days this will help flip the bike from side to side quicker and easier. We all know that bike needs all the help it can get to turn in quicker without your body input and countersteering.
I have run 2CT's on my RC51 and my now current Falco, I will probably order one more 2ct to use uo the last new front I still have then switch to the Mich Sport touring model. Pilot Road 2's.

I have had three rc's sp1 and two sp2 and all have had 190's I've ran pilot road 2ct on ten and get about 7500 miles outta them also great wet road traction
I have dunlop q2s only 95 ninja. They were mg favorite tires so far. However the 09 6r I just got has bridge stone bt016s on it and I have to say I am quite impressed with them so far. I haven't been able to trully feel them out yet since I just got the bike and its colder out. But so far they have offered quite a bit of feedback and feel. And last time I checked they were one of the cheapest tires out there.
Also they are getting replaced by the s20 which I have heard is even better in all respects including mileage.
