I want to get the passenger seat for my RR modified so that its actually comfortable for a passenger. There's maybe 1cm thick of foam on the seat now and I'm looking for a good upholsterer in the area (MA) to basically take the stock seat and make it nice and comfy with either GEL or a bunch of extra padding. Anyone have experience with this or any recommendations?
Thanks,
-F
I might have a good answer for you in about a week or so: there's a custom (bike) upholsterer I saw @ the bike show at the World Trade Center last winter who's right around the corner from me in Peabody. planning to see 'em later this week... I'll letcha know![]()

My advice to you is to send it to Russell... www.day-long.com
They do mostly BMW saddles, but lemme tell you, their remakes of seats using the stock seat pan are THE BOMB!!! I have never in my life ridden on a more comfortable seat. I can ride out an entire tank, no stops, with no discomfort for me or my passenger on his seats...
Not local at all, but well well worth it....
My 2c... Shy of that, theres an upholsterer in Framingham that redid my CBR seat for me pretty well... I can find their card in my collection tonight when I go home if you want...
Cheers,
Chris
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
You can do it yourself , it isn't that hard , get a gel pad from JC whitney , and a staple gun , take out the staples , get a knife and cut out shape of gel seat and put gel pad in , and voila , gel seat.
Marks auto upholsty Foxboro MA, don't know his number but he did quite a bit of work for me when I was building vans and it was excellent work.

Has anyone ever seen a back seat on a sportbike modified to have a backrest piece. My gf whines about being sore after the shortest of rides. I've been considering building a custom seat as well. Keep me updated of what you find out.![]()

Yup, Corbin makes one for the Superhawk. Not sure if they make them for two piece seats though...
