The Mrs. & I are thinking of heading from Maine up to Montreal and Quebec City in August... do any NESRs have some recommendations? We are both French speakers so we're keen to check out the French Canadian side of things, so if y'all have recommendations -- besides strip clubs in downtown Mtl, that is -- I'd be all ears. :p
The house from the TV show "The Munsters" is just south of Quebec City.
I always enjoy the Mt. tremblant area, lots of beatiful roads for riding, and of course, the racetrack.

Which part of "not the strip clubs" did you douchebags miss?
highsider: Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check that out. Any others?
If you're into history and Euro culture, just head right up to Quebec City. Its pretty close to an old French village, they have great food and wine, and some cool old churches, etc.
If you're looking more for some good twisties, head to Mt. Tremblant, which is kinda-sort between Montreal and Quebec (although a bit off to the west).
Either way you decide to go, you'll be glad you speak French. Once you get out of Montreal, there are very, very few people who speak English.

stay @ the hotel frontenac. Very nice there. I was there 2 winters ago. The pricing isn't too bad. it's in the old town section an d there are plenty of bars/restaurants. eat some fondue/crepes...very good. The citadel is pretty cool too...it all overlooks the st.lawrence

Thanks highsider, I am more looking for the history and culture stuff than the twisties -- though I won't discount them entirely! I think we might do this:
Portland to Burlington
Burlington to Montreal
Montreal to Mt. Tremblant
Mt. Tremblant to Quebec City
Quebec City to somewhere in central Maine that's interesting
then back to Portland.
Yeah, I've heard that -- not the coolest thing in the world, but what are you gonna do? They are trying to protect their culture, I think they go the wrong way about it though.
I will look them up, thanks!
This place was pretty cool:

RandyO: Um... that's a pretty big egg-beater! I will keep my eyes peeled, even with my lack of navigational skills I reckon I could find that in the countryside :p
MissTwisties: My wife & I met in Mali (West Africa), which was Francophone; I was there with a mining company and she was a Peace Corps Volunteer. So I wouldn't say we speak French well because we speak African French, so I'm sure some of the sentence constructs we use will get us strange looks in France :p
If your coming into Burlington and I am home... The Misses and I woould show you around.

Okay, planning on heading out on Sunday, just up to Quebec City for four nights and then back -- can't get any more time off from work.
Anyone got accommodation recommendations up there?
