Has any one ever done this? How were the charges for it? Would you do it again?
Forward Air has your answers.
I just had a 06 Triumph Tiger Shipped from Michigan to Mass. I used JC Motors:
Motorcycle shipping, motorcycle transport, motorcycle transportation, motorcycle shippers
Took about 10 days from booking to delivery.
Would defiantly use them again

yup, i've shipped a bike or 2. used a bike/car shipping company the first time. fast, no prep work needed, bike arrives ready to ride. door to door service. expensive though. used simple ground frieght the second time. bike had to be drained of all fluids and crated (by the customer) and dropped off at a shipping depot, it also took awhile to get from A to B. though it was cheap as hell from CA to MA.
i've never used foward air, but i've had friends use it. i hear nothing but good things about it.
I shipped my F3 from VT to FL about 5 yrs ago. I'm sure prices are much higher now due to fuel costs.
One major factor that helped me with the price was having them pick-up the bike @ my work. Since it's a business (with loading dock, etc) it was cheaper.
I can't recall off the top of my head what company i used, but I picked up a crate at my local dealer (they should give them to you no charge) so it shipped just like the new ones.

I have shipped several bikes. I use Motorcycle Shipping Transport Company - Shippingmasters They give you a number of options and you can pick. I have also used Dailydirect, but they are more expensive. Both services offer uncrated shipping.

I am having a bike shipped from CA to RI right now. With shippingmasters it is around $600 door to door. It should take about a week and a half from the time I scheduled the shipping. No crating. The guy I bought the bike from couldn't crate or transport the bike.

i had my current bike shipped from SD to my door for $440 by BAXGlobal.com. They said it would take a week, took 2 days! If your not a time schedule, look into UShip.com. Its like ebay, but the other way around. People bid and you choose who to accept to carry your shipment of whatever it is you want. I would have done this, but time just wasnt working for me
(if anyone needs an aluminum shipping palate, i have one)

rg500 and other similar buyers. How do you know that bike would be deemed safe to ride?
I used forward air.
I had a pick up and was able to ride it off the dock into the bed, and bring it home.
Forward air is reasonably cheap if you can drive the bike to the airport drop off and box it in their case.
You have to call them 2 weeks or so prior to get a container sent to your airport drop off location.
AZ to MA was ~ $400

Try listing it on UShip.com
I paid $550 to ship from FL to Boston, a bit expensive, but I needed the bike in a hurry.
