Sounds like a good deal! I'd check the date on 'em though. A helmet that expires in 2 years is worth 2/5 of one made in 2012! (And obviously, some experience with sizing in Shoei helmets is a good idea...!!!

Ive tried on just about every helmet on the market (not Vemar or Shubereth) and I just keep going back to the RF1100 as the best fit for me...and I want tp find something better...I just cant.

Great lid, I wouldnt pass up this deal...I paid 450 for mine 5 months ago and that was pretty discounted price too.

Not true. Most racers will crash a helmet within 2 years anyways.

I think STG is still selling the Bell Star for $299.

They were selling the carbon version during black Friday for half price, and that is what I will be wearing next season.

Bells fit a different head from what I heard and read. So one would def need to try one on before buying. The problem is that no one carries Bells around my area.

Does anybody know how the fit differs between these and the X12?

I tried the RF-1100 on right after the X-12, the 1100 does fit differently. For me, the 1100 was a better fit. But, either would have done the trick. Sizing was the same, ie, if you're a medium in one you'd be a medium in the other.

I talked to them about 3-4 months ago. At the time, they only have XL and XXLs in the Vortex and Star. I asked if they would be carrying more and I believe they said no because they don't fit correctly for most people. I talked to Billy and Dan(parts manager).
