Speeding Tickets

OK so Massachusetts says that if you get 3 speeding tickets in 12months you lose your license for 30days.

Here is my question.
I have one right now from like April or May (BigRed's Fault

)
and I am going to court for one that I will lose.
Then I got another today.

BUT

I am changing my license to Rhode Island like right away. So when I am found guilty of the third it will be like the end of the summer or something and I will have been in Rhode Island for along time.
Will anything happen?

hmm tough to say. I heard though if you try to register a license in another state, they run your record from the state you are coming from. Don't quote me on that but thats what I've heard.

The clock runs from when the Debts are settled, not when you physically got the ticket, so send it in and fight it then don't show that will run it over the 12 month mark, Happend to my brother would have been his 7th in 3 years was gonna loose it for another 60 days..

I just came from the same thing, your right to drive in MA will be suspended. Make sure you get your RI lic and hope that all this slides in under the radar. That said, I also had trouble getting insurance for the bike as they thought my MA lic was suspended

and make sure not to drive in MA... since like Nefarious said your right to operate in MA will be suspended... regardless of your RI license status you can / will be arrested if stopped in MA...

also if you don't show for the ticket then your right operate in MA will be suspended indefinately due to the payment default... at least if you go to court and do whatever is deemed necassary by them you'd be able to drive legally in MA once the suspension was lifted...

Fight it, and if you have not had to already you most likely wont lose your license. You will have to take an all day class if it is your first time.

I plan on paying what I owe when they find me responsible.
I am kind of hoping that the cop from the one I am going to court about next month does not show. Then this is moot

From my many years in Mass if I remember correctly there is a magistrate system in place. The actual cop doesn't show except if you push it all the way to trial.

Go the normal route of request for discovery, all cert mail for all pertinent maintenance, training and certification documents for any and all equipment/people involved. If they can't provide it, it will either result in a dismissal or delay the trial indefinitly. Time is your partner here. Also file for a continuance a couple times with a basis of discovery (document sending out requests in a notebook with dates to show process). If you can get the hearing pushed out to 2008 (not hard at all) then you are made in the shade even if you are found responsible.

Cop does not have to be there.. There sheriff will read discription of all infractions for everyone there from that town. Magistrate will say pay or you are free to go. If you have to pay you can appeal it to the next level.
