Everyone get there stickers in MA ?
I got mine yesterday at the local Harley shop! Good thing, because the local sport bike dealer probably would have failed me for my rear tire at the wear bars and my hiden rear directionals ( Which I need to fix so people can see where I am going!) I like the pipes I have but I have nowher to put rear directional beside the intigrated set up that I had to get rid of because it kept blowing bulbs. Plus I'm sure it's difficult for cagers to really know what my tail/brake/directionals are really indicating!
Anybody have a custom idea? I'll post a pic of the rear if the bike later to see if anyone has a good idea..

yeah, i took the afternoon off yesterday and made 3 trips to gbm to get my bike and my husband's 2 bikes inspected. no problems
half squid - did i see you in wayland on saturday?
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
What is the deal with the bulbs blowing? Too much voltage or is it from vibration?
~ FTrain
Could be voltage if its aftermarket bulbs, or it could be the heat if the new mount location doesn't allow the bulbs to cool/they are too close to the pipes
Best bet for a solution is to get one of the LED setups for the rear...
Cheers,
Chris
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
Well, I changed my oil, mounted new tires, did a basic cleaning all on Monday to make sure it is ready to be inspected. All looks good, I might have to do it today if the rain holds off.
Local harley shops seem to be the only way to go, if you have questionable mods!!

I have that same problem with the TL-R (directional location). Here's what I plan to do...Originally posted by Half Squid

Getting some sheet metal (even an old license plate'll do) and cutting and bending it so that it'll hold my license plate and short stalk directionals. But I'm gonna put tabs on it that'll bend in behind the plate so that when I mount the directionals, you won't see the stocks, just the lenses...
Not sure if that gets across what I'm gonna do. Basically, from the rear, you'll see the license plate and JUST the directional lenses. The directionals will stick out on either side of the plate...

Kirkers is like right across the street from Daddy's Junky Music, or somewhere around there, right? I thought that was still Saugus. But then again i just consider that ENTIRE section of RTE 1 to be in Saugus![]()

hm-m-m... dunno 'bout that. I've got (large) flushmount fronts, shortened-stalk rears (custom mount after I removed the fender, but OEM signals), and they didn't even bat an eye... dunno if they would take exception to yours.Originally posted by OreoGaborio

I may have to modify the location of the exhuast so they are not so tight to the tail. 1. So the heat like Hohum says is not a factor in blowing the bulbs. ( I dont think it is )
2. So my directionals can stay put and people will accaully be able to see them!
Another option is to mount some flush mounts to the side of the tail, which will require drilling holes in the tail. (Not something I want to do...) Or make up something similar to what you Describe Jay but have the licence plate bracket the whole size of the plate with tabs at the bottom at a 45 degree agle out the bottom and mount short stockers there. This will take away from the clean look I have now thou....![]()
What to do?![]()
Next expensive option is to buy a new undertail with built in directionals... That will run $200 to $350, kind of pricey for a small issue like this. Glad I was able to get a sticker!!!![]()

Tires are all that's needed to get my sticker...They should be at my doorstep on friday.....Weather sux, so I'm not worried...
OreoGaborio....I'm right down the street from you in Danvers....
I'm a 1/4 mile off of RT.1
Given Directionals are a SAFETY issue, and that visibilty of those directionals could SAVE YOUR LIFE from getting rear ended by a cager who wasn't paying enough attention, I would think that you would make damn sure that they were legal and visible, not going with something sketchy or questionable or even slightly confusing.
If you get rear ended, the driver claims not to have seen you, and your directionals are found to be illegal, then there is the possibility that the driver will not have been found to be in error. The shop can lose their inspection license, and you may wind up at fault for the accident.
Don't mess around with your life.

I have been using hand signals constantly since I did the change over to directionals that are questionable, but the reason I am looking to fix the issue is exactly the reason for finding a better display of signals! Plus the issues with the integrated system, which also was questionable for ussing as directionals! All the purpose of safe riding. I have seen the directionals intergrated into the tail lens. Not legal but it was easy to see.

I had mine like that on the TL-R for oh, about 20 minutes. You & I think they're easy to see. Problem is some idiot behind ya not having a clue when ya got the directional flashing AND you're hitting your brakes...Originally posted by PinHead
