I am in full gear and leave work and swing over to the local mobil to get some gas. As I am filling up a guy rides in on a harley or something similar, not paying much attention, nice looking bike either way, wearing shorts and a tank top. I pay no mind, to each his own. I finish filling up and start to put my backpack on and I see him walking over to me and the conversation goes:
Him: Aren't you hot?
Me: Yeah - but its better than kissing the pavement with nothing on
Him: I've been reading for 40 years and haven't kissed the pavement. I guess with the kind of attitude you should be wearing that getup.
Me: Starts the bike and just rides away.
I just don't get it.
they don't call it an "accident" for nothin.

I'd be sooo bored riding a cruiser for 40 years......
To think that falling down is out of the question...completely ignorant. I guess I should sell my bike and buy a cruiser, apparently the don’t fall
Doesn't everyone know that only Harley's don't crash?
Sheesh!
lets use the word "accident" in a sentence, shall we?
It was an unfortunate accident that you met such an ignorant soul.

The way it was explained to me is some people have this gene in their DNA that protects them from any kind of accidents.
The problem lies with some people who think they got it when they really don't.
Me ... I KNOW that I don't have it!![]()

Man this struck a nerve.
I see people in shorts and t-shirts and flip flops on bikes ALL THE TIME.
I just don't get it.
Can't we do something to educate them? i for one am starting with the military riders, getting ads in the local Guard Magazine.... Maybe a TV commercial... Degs, you got any advice in that area?

You should have told him to fuck off and get out of your face. Or told him he's probably not kissing much any more, considering his face is as wrinkly as his balls at this point.

I've had the same thing happen.
Difference between me and them? I know I'll still be riding after my next get-off. I won't dismiss bikes as "dangerous" for people with death wishes.

I had a guy on a harley tell me about how he had a get off wearing a full face and the front of the helmet got caught on a peg or something and dragged him with the bike. So "a full face doesn't really help you." My response, "no they don't, your face dug into the peg would have been much better" Moron!![]()

Thayer St.???? I don't get the attraction,it's not even a 1/4 mile between Lloyd ave. and Waterman St. But i've heard that summertime is lot's 'o bikes.
I'd be offended by anyone ridiculing me for wearing all my gear.Too many wannabes'. Speaking of "Squids".....As a Buell rider (mostly) i'm amazed how many times a Squid rider will go out of his way to confront me with the "How fast have you been"? And ,"I've done 180 down the highway".
BORING!!! I suppose the track is the proper place but,i like speed in places like "Deals Gap" or perhaps "Mohauk trail". My favorite ride in the area is northeastern Connecticut from Eastford thru Webster Mass.Show me your speed in the twisties....![]()

A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill
